@james_bland I have tried disabling the igpu, facetime camera and wi-fi adapter and this did not resolve error 12, neither did cold-plugging.

@jonodavis, mmm. Not sure what else to suggest.

I think the config I have working now I’d tried previously. The only difference is I didn’t try cold booting it. There’s no many different combinations but it does seem a few have this working with AMD cards now.

I can hit plug Nvidia to my Thinkpad T480s but I also get a Code 12 on that unless I cold boot with the AMD GPU. Microsoft just need to sort out their eGPU support as it’s pretty poor currently.

@james_bland, mine is working reliably enough with 1903 V1 that I just made a Winclone image of it and saved it.  Now I intend on using the latest public release version of 1909 and trying the pci.sys swap.

@andygev35, Maybe try v2004 which is in release preview ring now. It’s also on MSDN downloads as a final build so it should be public anytime.

I mention it as maybe it won’t need the PCI file swapping out. I tried it with no luck but I don’t think I tried cold booting which is the only way mine works.

Either way though let me know as I’d like a more recent build if at all possible to work.

@andygev35, Thanks Andy. Ordered a Samsung T7 Drive so should have that on Wednesday. Will use that for Windows now I know this can all work.

Probably best to take an image like you did incase it’s a fluke.

@tsakal, I don’t have experience to compare it to other than a 10th gen MacBook Air, which it decimates due to having a proper cooling solution.

@tsakal, That's correct.  I can only compare the 10th Gen MacBook Pro to the 10th Gen MacBook Air since those are the only two I've used with eGPU's.

I can't speak to any performance gains over previous generations with separate TB3 controllers.
