My Razer Core X Chroma arrived today, but doesn't seem to have resolved Code 12 error with either an RTX 2070 Super or GTX 970 SC.

I previously suspected that my Mantiz Venus was the source of error 12, but now I suspect it is the NVIDIA cards.

Seeing as most of the documented success have been with AMD cards I've got a Radeon 5700 XT on order for next week to test that. Hopefully I'll have the same success as @ashton_clapp.

Ideally I could use the Radeon with the Mantiz Venus and keep using the Venus's internal HDD, but if the Razer Core X Chroma is the only one that works I'll be happy to quit troubleshooting for a little while Smile

It's getting late here but I wanted to get this good news out so that others can give it a try with Nvidia eGPUs on the 2020 13-in Ice Lake MacBook Pro. Microsoft released the Windows 10 May 2020 update today. This was the crucial prerequisite as earlier versions of Windows 10 didn't like newer Nvidia eGPUs very much. Once I installed Win10 2004 (OS Build 19041.264), the AORUS RTX 2080 Ti Gaming Box was plug-and-play. There was no component disablement at all. Simply let Windows sort itself out to get the Nvidia eGPU going. One thing to note is that the RTX card firmware tends to have compatibility with Mac firmware. Therefore cold boot with RTX eGPU may not be possible (Mac would be stuck in preboot).

You're kidding. Right when I got it working with all of the hassle. Great news though!

@roddy, I logged on and saw your build with Windows 10 1903. I thought you more than anyone would love seeing this! 😀

It's good to have the troubleshooting experience with these Mac + eGPU in Boot Camp. We'd all need it from time to time.

@itsage, that mirrors my experience with a Nvidia card as I’d already tried it with v2004. No faffing at all, it just worked.

Shame AMD isn’t in the same boat though but at least we can get them to work.

@andygev35, To be honest it’s not hugely noticeable. The T7 is twice as fast I believe give or take from the older T5 because it’s not a SATA based SSD anymore.

Thats still I guess about half the speed of the internal SSD but it still boots quickly regardless.

Hi, itsage. Can You test COD Warzone on AORUS RTX 2080 Ti Gaming Box with 2004 update? I'm very interested how it will perform.

@itsage, This is great news, installing now. Looks like Nvidia also released an updated driver to go with the Windows update (ver 446.14). Fingers crossed...

@jonodavis, keep us updated! Waiting with baited breath. FWIW I'd keep your Mantiz over the Razer for the internal SSD.
