Best storage expansion solution?
Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place! I have a 2016 13" Macbook Pro set up with an Akitio Node, and I want to add 2 TB (ideally) of extra storage to use for gaming on my Windows partition. What is the best solution for this? An external Thunderbolt 3 SSD could be nice, as long as it doesn't interfere with the eGPU's performance. Any product recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
You will find the Wavlink TB 3 enclosure in this forum, very fast but needs expensive NVMe M.2 sticks. You are probably served with an USB 3.1 Gen 2 enclosure and SATA M.2 sticks, both will be much cheaper and you will not notice the difference except when benchmarking.
@jangoloti_1, Awesome, thank you for the info! If I do decide on the more expensive NVMe TB3 solution, it should not throttle my GPU performance, correct? I was concerned about having two Thunderbolt 3 devices connected at once.
I do not know but I would be surprised you max out both Thunderbolt bandwidths for too long or very often... Other can probably better tell than me.
