Hello,

Does anyone know why the Microsoft Graphic Hybrid feature works for some games and does not works for other games?

Here is an exemple:

bloodstained

You can see I have set my game for the High Performance GPU.

Then:

bloodstained2

You can see the game runs on low performance (Radeon Pro 560 only).

But with some games, I don't have this problem...

I tried with 3 different games.

My eGPU works with:

  • Resident Evil 2 remake

It doesn't work with:

  • Doom (2016)
  • Bloodstained

So, I wonder why my settings from this feature (Microsoft Graphic Hybrid) is not taken into account in every games...

Hello dude.

I realized that too yesterday. Let me explain>

If I connect my eGPU on an external monitor my CG will work well and it even runs in the menu (example DMC 5) Besides it is still abused I play in 4K with a 5700XT with FPS of sick (I have hallucinated ^^)

If I stay on the internal screen, it does not rotate however I still have hardware acceleration with the eGPU. I relaunched DMC5 and actually no lag while the game thinks I'm on the internal Radeon Pro 560X of the macbook.

I will try to search a little more on this subject. For information, I did not do as in your screen in graphic settings.

MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2018) I7 + MacMini 2019 I7 + Razer Chroma + 5700 XT + Monitor 4K Samsung x2 + UAD Arrow TB3.

It depends on the Graphics API being used. Only newer versions of DirectX are supported. OpenGL does not recognize this setting.

iMac 4k 2015 - 21.5" (iGPU only)
i5-5675R @ 3.10 GHz
8 GB RAM
Aorus Gaming Box 1070 via TB3 > TB2 adapter
Windows 10.0.17134

Thank you very much. You guessed it.

Too bad.

Doom (2016) does not use DirectX...

Is there another way to run games like Doom that don't use DirectX with my eGPU?

So i suppose the answer is no.

In this example there is really only one way: use the headless adapter as described in other threads. The only other way for non-DX games is if the developer puts an option in the game options to select which GPU to use (similar to the Windows 10 switching). As this is an older game, there is little chance of that happening.
