Good Day Everyone,

I tried this on my MBP 2019 16" without an egpu installed and get a blank screen after the countdown ends. I just want to the mac to use both igpu and dgpu. Is there a workaround?

Was `EFI/Boot` changed in macOS 11+ to EFI/Apple? Oh it’s EFI/Boot for Windows. I got it.

But after figuring this out, I got code 43 with my dGPU (Radeon Pro 555X). Why is this happening?

I’ve not been using eGPU. I’m just trying to activate the iGPU with my dGPU model.

@aa15032261 Would you still be able to update the efi file? I have one of the MacBook Pros with the 5600M as the dedicated graphics card and under "Connected Graphics Cards" for the dedicated it shows "Unknown".

same as me- I have a Mac Mini I7 from 2018, Razer Core X Chroma and a AMD Vega 56. Always error 12 in Windows. Under OSX Monterey the EGPU works like a charm.

I have windows on an external drive (Winclone).

Anybody has a solution?

@aa15032261, I have a Macbook pro 16" and use twinmotion 2022.1 to make path tracer images and 3D movies. I have the AMD RX 6600 XT inside the razer core X and an Lg ultrafine monitor that only connects to thunderbolt 4 or usb-c.
What happens is that it crashes all the time.

I have the bootx64.efi working with no error 12. I don't know if it has to do with the age of the bootx64.efi, it hasn't got the card name. He shows amd on the boot but with no name of the graphic card.

Anyone knows if there is a new or recent bootx64.efi?

Something is wrong here. Formatting my drive and installing MacOS and Windows from scratch didn't solve it.

Symptoms:

  • When I plug in the eGPU for the first time during the countdown, the system instantly freezes until I hard reset.
  • If eGPU is plugged in during a reboot, it hangs at apple logo and I must hard reset with it unplugged to boot.
  • eGPU works fine in MacOS
  • eGPU detected fine in Windows when efi loader is skipped and eGPU is plugged in once booted, but of course with error 12.

System:

  • 2019 Macbook Pro 16"
  • 2.3 GHz i9
  • Radeon Pro 5500M 8 GB
  • Fresh install of MacOS 12.2 after formatting internal drive from Recovery mode.
  • eGPU: Mantiz Venus with RX 580 8GB, connected via HDMI to Vizio e65-e0

Settings:

  • Secure boot is off
  • tried both via efi loader on USB and via clover configurator-mounted efi folder
  • tried with SIP on and off

I'm stumped. I've read several build guides and none seem to run into the eGPU causing an instant system freeze when plugged in during efi loader.

Am I the only one who's encountered this?

I have tried this on my mac but still getting error 12 on Windows 11. Also tried hackflags and replacing pci.sys but no luck. It seems W10 is only solution though I can't revert back anymore so have to do clean install. Egpu is Aorus Gaming Box GTX case.

@evan1138, could you try a different power supply maybe?

@bukeyolacan, mine works on windows 11 with the stock pci.sys file - but I have to port dance AND keep my laptop open for it to work.  At least it works though :/
