2019 MacBook Pro 16" here with an old Aorus RX580 gaming box on Windows 20H2.  Works great with the apple_set_os EFI file from here, and the minor hassle of having to do the left-right-left port swap each Windows boot (not messing with pci.sys, and the registry hack didn't help my Code 12 woes).

This HackFlags registry edit doesn't work for me.  I'm on a 2019 MacBook Pro 16" w/5500M, Razer Core X and PowerColor Red Devil 5700 XT, Windows 20H2 (19042.685), December 2020 "Red" AMD Drivers from BootCampDrivers.com.  Was on Catalina, now on Big Sur.

What does still work for me is the EFI boot loader fix with left/right/left port swap after booting (and unplugging USB hub during boot and swap):

[EFI Loader] Error 12 Fix in Boot Camp for Apple T2 Security Chip Macs (apple_set_os loader v0.5) | BootCamp eGPU Setup

Just FYI.  Still hoping to eliminate that port swapping on every boot.

This worked! Mac mini 2018 + Radeon Vega 64. Installed Win10 directly from Microsoft, went into safemode, DDU my current drivers, shutdown then started and hotplugged GPU on windows logo. Installed December drivers from Bootcampdrivers and got error code 12. Ran the registry edit (twice for good measure), then shutdown, disconnected the HDMI, rebooted, and boom! Seems to be working smoothly so far. SO happy this is finally fixed. Had it figured out about a year ago then Windows Update destroyed my drivers, and I was unable to boot into safe mode and ended up having to reformat because my attempt to reinstall/update the drivers completely bricked the OS.

Which W10 version do you have?

And regarding registry - HF - 600 or 400?

Hi, I have tried everything in the easy list to use my eGPU with bootcamp. No luck, even with HackFlags On. At least I have found the nature of my error:

[00000000FE0B0000 - 00000000FE0BFFFF] eGPU allocation

[0000004000000000 - 0000007FFFFFFFFFF] Large memory allocation (empty list)

@incredulocious, May I ask what, if any, discrete gpu you have? I have a similar setup, 2019 16" Razer Chroma X, 5700 XT, and 5500M 8GB. I too have only been a ble to use the efi fixer to get things working.

I haven't found anyone who is running latest windows + big sur with the 2019 16" and a discrete gpu and Big Sur. I'm trying to see if it's safe to upgrade to Big Sur.

Maybe I’m not understanding your question, but what I described above was yes, my system was working with a 5700 XT in a Razer Core X under Big Sur but using the EFI boot loader fix.  I’m now using a 6800 XT, which isn’t yet supported under Big Sur but is still working for me for Windows gaming via Boot Camp.  (Using Feb 2021 “red” driver from bootcampdrivers.com.)  And my Windows 10 was current at least as of a few days ago.

@incredulocious, Thanks for replying. I didn't realize that the MBP only comes with either a 5500 or 5300. I thought there was an option for only integrated graphics and thus was waiting for confirmation from users who also had a discrete GPU in their MBP - my mistake.

That's great news for me though! Looks like I'll give Big Sur a shot. Thanks!

This is really funny. I am not researching egpu anymore, because I finally chose to use my eGpu with a GTX 1080 Ti only for Bootcamp. And this works flawlessly with any Windows version.

A new AMD Navi GPU could be interesting, but again those troubles in Bootcamp... When do they stop?
