@frankthetank_98, I have tested Windows 11 on four Thunderbolt 3 Macs. The 2018 Mac mini and 2019 13-in MacBook Pro are working well through different version of Windows 11 since Insider previews. The 2019 16-in MacBook Pro and 2020 Ice Lake 13-in MacBook Pro don't work in Windows 11 with AMD eGPU.

Has anyone tried Windows 11 with eGPU / Bootcamp on a mac? Does eGPU work?

Nope. Does not work.

@dima_novosad, It may work with an Nvidia eGPU. When I tried with an AMD eGPU, Windows 11 caused error 12 on my 2019 16-in MacBook Pro.

100% this for me too @dima_novosad

As bove, I can confirm this is the same case for me. 2019 16-in MacBook Pro AMD iGPU and eGPU

To do: Create my signature with system and expected eGPU configuration information to give context to my posts. I have no builds.

2018 mbp win11 bootcamp, iGpu: Radeon Pro 555x and eGPU: AMD Radeon RX 6600 were automatically detected when i plugged in and restarted, did nothing on updates.. seems to work perfect.. not sure if i need to do the driver wipe and install.

External monitor connected to hdmi port on egpu, egpu is connected to mbp through thunderbolt 3

2020 13" Macbook Pro i7, 32GB, 2TB

Upgraded Stock, boot camp version of Windows 10 to

Windows 11 Pro (latest version)

I booted up windows, plugged in the eGPU into the left side closest to trackpad (my thunderbolt dock is in the other) and that's it. Windows update grabbed the driver and I went on to play the overwatch beta just fine for a couple hours. I used the iGPU to drive my other display via the dock and my gaming monitor via the eGPU.

Did some windows updates and the eGPU comes back online after a restart, cold boot and hotplug!

@se12897, This is encouraging news! Can you run winver in CMD and provide the exact build number of Windows 11 so that we can have a record for other members to try? I will give this a try soon on my 2020 13-in Ice Lake MacBook Pro. I've been running it on Win10 1903 V1 for a couple years.

My Build number is: Windows 21H2 Build 22000.795

one thing to note, when attempting a cold boot, only the screen attached to the iGPU will show up, then once you log into windows, the nvidia card will become activated. most likely due to DMA security. I will most likely disable that in Group policy since this is a Pro version.

This is just my observation. It does seem this setup works better than any of my previous builds (even TB4 ones). Overwatch rarely dips in FPS from 175 on medium. I'm used to it dipping further (down to 140) on low when lots of things are happening on screen.  I wonder if this is due to the faster soldered ram the macbook has. All of my previous setups have had 2666 ram.

the eGPU only seems to work in the left side ports. Either one works though. If you use the right ports, it gives error 12.

I was testing overwatch in Optimus mode. 130fps on the internal display at full res on medium very good result.
