Hey guy's
I'm back with a upgraded setup, i got a 1070 seahawk x watercooled gpu inside the exp gdc 8.4 up and running.
Gta 5 on the 960 with high/very high settings (no msaa at all) gave me 35 fps, on the 1070 i'm getting 40 fps on absolutely maxed out settings (8x msaa and everything else)
also my heaven benchmarkt went from 800 to 1450 score with an avarage of 55fps instead of 33
to get it running i first installed 368.6 1070 drivers and then upgraded to 384.94 (latest) and it's running great =)
My Laptop specs are:
intel 2630QM i7 2ghz/2.9ghz quad core processor
12gb ddr3 1867mhz corsair vengeance (3x 4gb)
iGfx intel hd 3000
dGpu nvidia 540M
My eGpu Setup:
Exp Gdc 8.4 beast
eGpu: MSI GTX 1070 Seahawk X 8GB
dell da-2 220watt Power adapter for the egpu
heaven benchmarks:
i have this issue. when i have a hdmi in my gpu, i can start anything on my laptop screen but the moment i drag it over to my external screen my gpu drivers crash, this has been with a gt 730, gtx 960 and gtx 1070, all had this issue, i can however run a hdmi from my laptop to my tv and then it works, just the hdmi's on the gpu will crash the drivers.
You’ve shown performance continues to scale with your GTX960->1070 upgrade, even on a x1 2.0 link. Nice.
You’re eGPU instability when use the video card HDMI port may be related to poor EMI protection by the EXP GDC. You can try some of these free/low cost strategies to see if can rectify that:
“NVidia driver stopped responding” intermittent messages: can’t run Gen2 signalling
EXP GDC, PE4H 2.4 and PE4L 1.5 all use a socketted cable and therefore have shown Gen2 signalling issues. This error indicates there was transmissions errors. If have another video card test it as subtle impedance differences between vendors can cause these errors. Also try isolating your PSU to it’s own power outlet, not using any USB devices in the eGPU adapter and even wrapping aluminium cooking over the eGPU adapter’s connecting cable (between system and eGPU adapter) to isolate EMI noise For the EXP GDC, if handy with soldering, consider making your own interconnecting cable. Also consider adding power cabling ferrite beads.
i've tried everything but the soldering one, i'm a little confused with that one, does it mean to solder a hdmi to the exp or does it mean to solder a Better hdmi cable to the mini pci-e connector?
I have the GTX 1060 6GB and did the same with the drivers... till now benchmarks 3D Mark works fine, but chrome and firefox crashes... only OPERA works... next i will test some games...
How is your browser working ? Do you have a fix for that problem, or anybody else ?
going back to windows 7 64 bit fixed my issue with not being able to run from the egpu hdmi port, now i can + i get 67 fps in gta instead of 30/35 with my gtx 960, maybe your browser issue is also related to win 10, just maybe though
