Install Windows 10 - 1903 via Bootcamp
Create EFI USB boot stick, I do this on MacOS/OS X
- Copy the EFI folder to a FAT32 USB-stick (Scheme Master Boot Record) (name: 'EGPU')
- Just hold down the Option key on startup and select "EFI Boot"
Check your windows version (Win 10 1903 OS Build 18362.295)
Start button > Settings > System > About
Activate restore and create restore point
Search > create a restore point > tab 'System Protection' > select the drive in 'Protection Settings' > configure > Turn on > Max use 2GB > Apply/OKSearch > create a restore point > tab 'System Protection' > select the drive in 'Protection Settings' > create restore point > sensible name
Disable and remove the hybernate file (Which can be huge!)
- open command prompt as administrator
- as administrator run:
powercfg -h off
Enable remote desktop
We do not use it in this setup but if we have no screen to use, a remote desktop could be helpful.
Search > remote desktop settings > Remote Desktop > Enable Remote Desktop
Uninstall the current drivers using DDU (display driver uninstaller) from the Win10-Radeon download
- Restart in safemode
Search > msconfig > Boot > Save mode (minimal) > OK
- Restart
- in safemode run: DDU
- Uninstall GPU - Intell (NOT restart)
- Uninstall NVIDIA (NOT restart)
- Uninstall AMD (clean shutdown)
- Restart in normal mode
Search > msconfig > Boot > disable Save mode > OK
- Boot to normal mode with USB EFI
Create restore point
Search > create a restore point > tab 'System Protection' > select the drive in 'Protection Settings' > create restore point > sensible name

Install and run AIDA64 Extreme
- See if your card is activated
- Display > GPU > PCI Express 3.0 ... RX 580 8G, and check your card properties, like Direct X support etc
Install and run the Unigine_Heaven benchmark to test your card.
Further tweaking to your own preferences.
Troubleshooting when eGPU fails: (stop when succes)
- Shutdown laptop. Shutdown eGPU, disconnect Firewire cable. Turn on eGPU, connect cable. Boot in Windows using the EFI eGPU boot
- Settings, laptop resolution 2560x1600. Dell U2513D Advanced display settings, 'Display adapter properties for Display X', List all Modes, shuffle between modes, choose like 3840x2160 32bit 60Hx or 2048x1536
