Exclusive>> courtesy of theitsage, above we see a Thunderbolt2 2015 11" Macbook Air successfully using an AKiTiO Node Thunderbolt 3 eGPU enclosure via an Apple Thunderbolt3 to Thunderbolt2 adapter within Windows 10. Apple spec their adapter to work in this configuration in macOS. Windows 10 was an unknown but here we see it works.
This is HUGE NEWS as it allows older TB2 or TB1 Apple systems to use a TB3 AKiTiO Node enclosure + Apple TB3 to TB2 adapter to provide an out-of-the box eGPU solution. This eliminates the weekend project of hacking open a AKiTiO Thunder2, figuring what PSU to use and how to wire it all up. Plus if upgrade to a TB3 Apple system in the future you'll gain full 32Gbps TB3 eGPU performance.
Testing TB2 PC notebooks with the Apple TB3 to TB2 adapter hasn't been successful so far. Further testing is being undertaken.
Good to hear that . Node worked good with 2015 air , i think node will work with 2014 15" macbook iris only right ??? Does it need dsdt override ??

It's really a HUGE News to use Node with older Macs, I have already bought one to work with my 2015 MacBook Pro 15'(AMD R9 m370x). I'll report results after Node arrived. Huge thanks to this community.

DSDT Override for use with Windows is most likely a requirement on your 15" iGPU only MacBook Pro. Once you get past that, it will be a sweet setup with either Nvidia Optimus or AMD XConnect.

Why though? 2014 15" MBPr Iris only was plug and play without any need for DSDT overrides or any other fiddling. Would it just need it because a TB3 device is connected?
I'd really like to see this working on a non-Apple TB2 notebook but I don't think there are any suitable adapters going to come as the amount of people with TB2 devices is probably way too small.

I agree that Late 2013 and Mid 2014 15” iGPU only MBPs were one of the best choices, no DSDT overrides, just apple_set_os.efi to activate the internal display.
