This site was super helpful in deciding what setup I should buy but it is not an exact setup tested before. So here are my specs:

Laptop:

2017 14" X1 Carbon (5th gen)

i7-7600U at 2.8GHz

16GB memory

Intel HD 620

Win 10, Home ed

two TB3 sockets

Gpu+case

MSI GTX 1070 Gaming, 8GB@8108 MHz, 1506 MHz base clock

AiKiTiO Node (default 0.5 m TB3 cable)

TB3 cable from Caldigit (2.0m, 6.56 ft) Active 40Gb/s, 100W, 20V, 5A

Setup

Laptop is connected via the 2m active TB3 cable. Video output from the node goes to Dell U2717D via miniDP running at 2560x1440@60Hz. I tested the speeds via CUDA-Z and they are comparable to the most similar setups poseted here. I witnessed no difference between the default 0.5m cable and the 2m active one (need it to have a quiet-ish setup). I haven't tried many games. The only one was Dishonored2 running at ultra details very smoothly on the Dell monitor. I was also able to run Mathematica 11.1 on the GPU for the ones interested in this. I'm very satisfied with this setup.
