2018 14" Lenovo X1 Carbon + [email protected] (Razer Core X) + Win10 [Bruce Wen]
I bought the X1C with intent of possibly replacing my desktop. I am tired of lugging around my desktop to friends houses for VR.
I'll add external display device performance next month when I come home from a business trip. Everything is internal display as of now.

When I have enough post history I guess, I'll upload. Basic laptop to Core X setup, nothing fancy.
Installation steps (what did you do to get it all going?
- Installed GPU into enclosure
- Powered on Core X
- Plugged in TB3 into laptop and eGPU, with laptop already on.
- Right clicked Thunderbolt icon on bottom right, hit approved devices, hit always approve on Razer Core X
- Downloaded nVidia driver. During download, I guess windows did an auto basic driver install of pci device, 970 showed up on device manager at this time rather than generic display device
- Installed nVidia driver, restarted
- Ran up a game, boom playing at smooth frames at 1440p high presets rather than the old 720p and lagging on low.

LOVE it! Had buyer's remorse on this laptop, i.e did I overspend for what I'm getting. So glad this is working basically straight out of the box, no regrets now.
Razer Core X has great performance, solid quality... but it is HEAVY and big. In fact, it feels as heavy, if not heavier, than my desktop. Premium, yes, but not portable at all. The handle on the back is only a release catch and is not safe at all to carry by. I might look into a smaller enclosure like the Akitio Node Pro.
Have an X1C paired with a Razer Core v2 and 1080ti.
It works perfect and has very little issue.
I have a 2018 13” MacBook 2.3 as well.
I love the the fact that the X1 just works.
However, I also love the speakers and OSX on the MBP.
I need to give one of these laptops up but it’s really hard!
The MBP has been my preferred laptop for many years. Resale value is much better.
But dang, I absolutely LOVE the flicker free HDR display, size, weight, keyboard and look of the X1. Honestly, the speakers, resale value and lack of OSX are the only things holding me back from just choosing it.
I can also say that the MBP got whatever reason gives me about 5-7 FPS more in the FarCry 5 benchmarks with the same settings.
Have you gotten around to installing this 1070Ti Hybrid? Would love to see some results and installation pics.
There need to be more hybrid video cards in the eGPU space.

I have the thinkpad x1(6th generation) and razor core x with 1080 ti foundation edition. However, i always get code 43. Do you have any chance knowing how to solve this problem? Really need ur help!
