2018 Mac Mini [8th,6C,B] + RX 580 @ 32Gbps-TB3 (Razer Core X) + macOS 10.14.6 [RealSoulskater]
Model: Mac Mini (2018)
CPU: Intel i7-8700B, 8th Gen, 6 Cores
Memory: 32Gb Kingston HyperX Impact DDR4
dGPU: Intel UHD Graphics 630
Installation was pretty much Plug and Play, recommendation is to have the computer of when plugging in the eGPU and then start the eGPU enclosure first then start the computer.
The only issue i have is that when i boot the machine up from zero the login screen do not show on the monitor when it is plugged straight into the eGPU box, i have to plug the monitor into the Mac Mini directly to see the login screen, after i have logged in i can put it in the eGPU box again and it will work well as long as i do not shutdown or restart the computer.
I ran the following benchmarks softwares to test how it performs.
LuxMark Hotel: 2780
LuxMark Luxball: 14617
Luxmark Mic: 9847
Unigine Heaven(Basic): 2544 FPS: 101
Unigine Heaven(Extreme): 960 FPS: 38
Unigine Valley(Basic): 3743 FPS: 89
Unigine Valley(Extreme): 1930 FPS 46
Since Mac computers have limited GPU performance this has improved my photography workflow since many of the newer softwares use the GPU whenever they can to speed up some of their internal tools when editing. And of course now i do not need 2 machines to be able to have a better photographic workflow and the ability to play a game when i feel like it.
A little update.
Been running a few games now in MacOS and it has been running smooth with high settings.
Been running The Elder Scrolls Online with an average of 70fps with high settings on most things.
And oh, Installed Windows 1903 and it works fine without any EFI or others hacks which is nice.
So all in all it was a good buy, looks nice on my desk and runs nice.
Thats great to hear! W10 1903 really seams to make a difference with the right Mac... any set up pics? I'm always keen to see peoples full set ups.
Shall to upload pictures now that have some post behind me so i might be able to upload som pictures. 🙂
Bechmarks images up, shall take a picture on mu actual setup when i'm home later today
