System specs (model inc screen size, CPU, iGPU, dGPU, operating system which eGPU is being used)

2019 14" Lenovo ThinkPad T490s, i7-8665U, Intel UHD 620, Linux (Fedora 32)

Hardware pictures (note: require 5+ posts for “attach files” button to appear. Or can link from say  http://imgur.com  )

Installation steps (what did you do to get it all going?)

1) Followed guide on https://egpu.io/forums/deals/worldwide-aliexpress-us70-razer-core-x-chroma-mainboard-add-atx-psu-tb3-cable-for-lowest-cost-100w-pd-tb3-egpu/ to use a Razer Core v2 board from AliExpress with an old PSU and GPU.

Benchmarks (Include a CUDA-Z or AIDA64 bandwidth pic. Optional: Valley3dmark, noting if it’s on internal/external LCD )

Comments (eg: how has the eGPU improved your workflow or gaming)

Still seems a bit flaky at the moment. The kernel occasionally has issues adding the PCIe device on attach (dmesg --follow is very helpful), and hot unplugging has crashed the kernel at least once, meaning I tend to plug the board in before booting. Will update as I do more testing.

@stephenfin, thanks for sharing this. Can you please share your feedback too? Like how did it improved the performance?

I am planning to do the same for my ThinkPad E490S. Any suggestions are really appreciated.

To do: Create my signature with system and expected eGPU configuration information to give context to my posts. I have no builds.
