Installation steps
A. MacOS 10.15.1
Pretty straight forward, literally plug and play.
B.Win 10 1903 (build 18362.30)
At first I had the Windows to go inside a samsung T5 SSD but it was a disaster lol. I know it is too dumb for me to hot plug eGPU in bootcamp windows environment but I never thought my display would went black instanly and my windows OS was dead lol. I tried to reboot in recovery mode and try to fix the OS but nothing can do. So I created a bootcamp partition in internal SSD drive instead and here are the steps.
- Clean install Windows 10 1903
- Download Adrenalin November 2019 edition at https://www.bootcampdrivers.com/
- Reboot windows in safe mode without internet
- Run DDU inside the bootcamp driver folder, choose "clean and restart"
- After reboot in normal mode, run setup.exe inside the bootcamp drivers folder
- hot plug eGPU
- if Error 12 appears, reboot
- done
Benchmarks
I dont have any external monitor (yet) but I got a pretty solid 60fps in battlefield 4 with ultra settings and native resolution (2880 x 1800)
and I went through some Heaven benchmarks
Comments
I bought this brand new Vega 64 in a great price (~$250), really nothing to complain about it but it is just way too noisy than I expected haha.
My ultimate goal is to build a desktop replacement workstation so I am planning to buy an external monitor, keyboard and mouse. With the external monitor, the performance can be further increased for 10-15% I think. Keep you guys updated when I get the monitor (um maybe next year lol).

2019 15" MacBook Pro (RP555X) [9th,6C,H] + RX Vega 64 @ 32Gbps-TB3 (Razer Core X) + macOS 10.15.1 & Win10 1903 [build link]
I can confirm the above steps worked like a charm. It's confirmed you'll need to stop the updates and so far 1903 works better than 1909 on a setup running internal display on a macbook pro. Took awhile to figure out that I needed to individually assign the games to run a max performance to force them to run on the eGPU but all ended well. I'm running a Macbook Pro 15 inch 2018 with bootcamp windows and Razer Core X with a Asus Strix RX5700 XT.
To do: Create my signature with system and expected eGPU configuration information to give context to my posts. I have no builds.
.Did you manage to get it working on an external monitor in the end?
