@tem990, that particular 2TB external drive you have only operates up to 550MB/S - which is not fast.

It's a great drive for storing documents and photos though.

Since you've invested a lot of $$ in a very nice 16" MBP and RTX 3080 ti gaming box - I'd say to definitely pick up a portable Thunderbolt 3 SSD like the Samsung X5 to house your gaming collection.

@mini-i5, hmmm…, i think i will put my SSD in the market since im not gonna use it, and i already have another one for my documents, and if i get a good deal i will consider buying this one.

but i still don’t get it how can i know what games that can be in external SSD while others can’t, i think this should be in another thread, not ruining this one for my subject.

Thank you for your tips guys.

To do: Create my signature with system and expected eGPU configuration information to give context to my posts. I have no builds.

@tem990, The drive Read speed of a Thunderbolt 3 external SSD like the Samsung X5 should be fast enough for all - or almost all - your games.

If you happen to find one game where that isn’t the case, you can always keep that game on the MBP’s internal drive.
