System specs

Intel i7 6700T (HD530), dualboot with grub2win: win1064bits booting from internal SATA SSD 250Go and libreelec booting by default from USB HDD (with 2 small partitions for libreelec and a large NTFS partition for my datas)

LG BDwriter BU40 on LENOVO USB extender case

USB wireless keyboard and USB wireless remote

PCIe AX200 wifi/bt module

In my case, the original 20V 65W PSU have to be replaced by a 20V 90W PSU or you will have a lot of USB issues...

eGPU hardware

MSI geforce GTX 1050ti installed on R43SG plugged on M.2 nvme port, R43sg supplied with a dell 220W

Installation steps

Easy to install, just remove (or drill) the bottom cover to plug the r43sg on the M.2nvme port and the r43sg can now be placed behind the lenovo.

In the bios, if your video setting is set to "IGPU", start your computer with your screen plugged on the integrated DisplayPort of the m710q and turn your bios setting to "auto".

Save and Stop your computer.

Plug your screen on the graphic card. Start your computer. Install your drivers

Benchmarks

Flight simulator 2020 is my benchmark: with this conf, I can run it at 1080p, 60Hz, settings details to "intermediate" level (compare to "high" level with the same graphic card on a classic desktop),

I have try a RTX2060 on it but the performances nearly equals to GTX1050ti, surely because the i7 6700T is too old.

GTX660 tested too, working too.

Here are the benchs with the GTX1050ti on the m710q

Comments

My geekbox, strong and cheap, is made with an old asus gtx660 box with the 2 PSUs, the usb HDD and the Lenovo+extender case inside, and the GPU on the top

For gaming (fs2020 OK, didn't try cyberpunk yet) and retrogaming (until xenia), that's do a good job
