More comprehensive RTX 3080 on 32Gbps-TB3 interface benchmarked at:
Hi, I'm new here and to eGPUs in general. Haven't seen any entries for the new RTX 3080Â yet so I figured I'd contribute:Â
System specs
- 13" Dell XPS 13 9380Â (FHD display)
- Intel i7-8565U (-0.0996 Voltage)
- Intel iGPU
- Windows 10 Pro
eGPU hardware
- Razer Core X
- Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3080 GAMING OC 10G

runs great after I put windows one version down and reinstalled all drivers
Did you use external monitor or just the internal laptop display?
To do: Create my signature with system and expected eGPU configuration information to give context to my posts. I have no builds.
.Thank you for your build with the much anticipated RTX 3080.
Would you like to include more benchmarks to give us more of an idea of TB3 performance? eg: 3dmark Firestrike, Unigine Valley/Heaven/Superposition, Forza 4 Horizon Demo with external and (optional) internal LCD mode.

@gakkou, that was on the internal display (1920x1080)
I also tried it on my TV in 4k but it's too big for me

I think this is not a TB limitation but a CPU; what do you all mean?

thank for your inputs
Now this is really promising! Could you please follow up with a Unigine Heaven score in 1080p on internal and external screen? So it's comparable to other benchmarks here.

external:
I have the feeling that from 120 FPS the micro-stuck starts; Can anybody confirm this?
External 2k:
External 4k:
here is more the starting point of a GPU that is 11 years younger than the benchmark ?!?
does that compare? if so, please show a comparison structure ...
thank you
This is much appreciated, thanks for taking the time to share with us. eGPU is still such a niche market that the only place to figure out what kind of performance to expect is at this forum.
It boggles my mind that there always seems to be more performance available with an eGPU, even if the returns are diminishing. Even on desktop it seems the returns diminish at lower resolutions.
I have mentioned a few times I am waiting on a VR gear order. When I get it I will be sure to let this forum how well it works on my setup.
