@itsage, Thank you I have just done that but I went for 2004 version. So I may need to try the pic.sys or inside track.

I ve been using successfully an ext installation on both my 2015 and 2018 mbp with no issues. Not sure why is not working now.

Also how is your experience with these 10gen chips, are they holding up ? From a benchmark point of view they seem to be similar to the 8gen in term of clock speed temperature. Do you use any specific or custom power / battery profile  in windows?

@tsakal, The 2020 13-in MacBook Pro with Ice Lake CPU is a different animal due to on-die Thunderbolt controllers. Nvidia cards can work with Win10 2004 version. If you're using an AMD card, use Win10 1903 V1 is recommended. You'd need to disable several PCI Express components too.

@itsage, Thank you I have the sapphire 5700xt I have seen the guides it is well documented what to do with the 1903 version. in case of the 2004 you went for the pic.sys swap so I reckon this is what you would suggest, right?

@tsakal, I’m currently using a Sapphire Pulse RX 5700 XT, with a fully updated 2004 build, using pci.sys swap from 1903 version.  I also have disabled auto update with gpedit, which seems to lessen the frequency that Windows update replaces the pci.sys automatically.  It still happens occasionally so I keep a backup copy in my documents as well as a copy in my iCloud Drive.  I’ve also been able to install Bootcamp on an external nvme drive, but not using Bootcamp assistant.  The only way it would work for me was to use Bootcamp assistant to create an internal Bootcamp installation, then use WinClone to make a backup image of Bootcamp.  Delete the Bootcamp installation,  restore the WinClone backup image to the external drive and MacOS sees it as a normal Bootcamp installation.  I do agree with @itsage that a small internal Bootcamp partition is a much better option and you can use the external drive for storage.

@andygev35, thank you. Which pci.sys guide did you follow? For my external bootcamp drives I have been using wintousb on Samsung t5 drives plus the downloaded windows support folder from bootcamp assistant.

Which pci.sys guide did you follow?

I didn’t really follow any of the guides.  I had a working 1903 installation and wanted to try a fresh 2004 build to see if it fixed AMD code 12 issues.  I saved a copy of 1903’s pci.sys for the swap if 2004 didn’t work, which of course it didn’t.  I reinstalled 2004 fresh, but right before installing Adrenalin, I booted back into Catalina, used Mounty to mount the Bootcamp partition in r/w, swapped pci.sys files, booted back into Bootcamp, installed Adrenalin and all was well.

@andygev35, When the bootcamp is on the macbbooks drive, it is already mounted on macOS. Do I still need to do it through mounty

@tsakal, MacOS mounts Bootcamp in read only mode since it can’t natively write to NTFS.  Mounty fixes that.

@andygev35, ok thanks. What about changing the author name. I read in other mentions that you need to change the author as well. Is this true?
