System specs: ASUS WS X299 PRO, Core i9-7920X, 64GB, Intel 900p, Win10, ThunderEX3 PCI4x

eGPU hardware  XG Station Pro, Vega56, Apple 80cm TB3 cable

Hardware pictures: Not so interesting just the box connected.

Installation steps Needed 4G decoding enabled with AMD & nNida GPUs at the same time with 2 nVidia it was fine

Benchmarks:

Unigine Heaven @4k 39.8fps @1440 124.3fps @1080 132.5fps

GeekBench OpenCL 190k

CineBench r15 155.2ps

Comments Vega64 mode triggered OCP on PSU at 4k resolution I assume with faster setup GPU is really working hard and pulls more power.

Soon I will add my system & eGPU details or a build link to this my signature to give context to my posts

@TobyB did the Vega 64 work in the XG Station Pro for you in any resolution at all?

(FYR @theitsage got the Vega 64 to work on the XG Station Pro by connecting two normal PSU:s to the chassi via a special Y cable,  https://egpu.io/forums/builds/2018-hp-spectre-13-radeon-vega-fe32gbps-tb3-asus-xg-station-pro-win10-1803-theitsage/  .)

Only at 4K, with lower power cpu the gpu was bottle necked by cpu so not an issue.

Also i was using bios modded 56, not a true 64

@mois Just buy my Node Pro and be happy!  Life is too short.

P.S.  If you want a bulletproof setup like me, get the Breakaway Box 650.  I don't have experience with the Core X, but I can tell you for sure the Breakaway Box does eGPU the way it is meant to be.

I agree if you want to run the Vega then get one with a bigger PSU.

Or you can run less power hungry card like a GTX1080
