Having some performance issues on Mac Diablo 3 I was hoping to get input on.

No matter what settings I change, playing in windowed or fullscreen, at 1080p or 1440p, my FPS hovers at 58/60 when nothing is happening in game such as being in camp, and then drops to about 50 in combat. I should be getting much higher than this and yet it's the exact same FPS at both resolutions? OSX monitor display settings are at 144hz, on Catalina 10.15.1

I'm also getting this graphic error in parts of the game, typically happens in very dark spots on screen or very bright areas such as lamps or when my character has a shout/aura active, such as in the screen shots. It's not happening throughout the game (yet), but is a concern and something i'm hoping there's a solution for.

Has anyone else has these issues playing the game through eGPU on Mac? I'll ask Blizzard support as well though I expect they wont be much help on eGPU compatibility.

Is there a vertical sync somewhere? What Mac and display you're playing on? Is the display connected to the GPU in the eGPU?

Hey I was wondering what your performance is like in WoW at 1080p on max settings. I already got my 5700 graphics card but I'm still waiting for my Razer Core X to arrive. Many thanks in advance!

To do: Create my signature with system and expected eGPU configuration information to give context to my posts. I have no builds.

@joevt Didn't have v-sync enabled, turned it on and now at 1440p my FPS is now 120/140 as i thought it should be but i'm still getting the same graphic error? My monitor is connected to the GPU, i'm playing with the internal Mac screen on as well so I can have Spotify open but have tried in clamshell as well, didn't help.

@maartenpeeters Butter smooth at 1440p, haven't had the same graphic issue as with Diablo3

Is it safe to use the Mantiz with the side panel off? The whole eGPU is quite warm to the touch under load, even with an upgraded fan airflow is restricted. Would an upgraded power supply generate less heat and with a better fan help exhaust it?

Ideally I think the Mantiz should have extra ventilation on the other side panel, with the option to remove the SSD mount inside and instead install another low profile 120mm fan.

Did you take apart the frame of the enclosure before swapping the exhaust fan? I am having trouble screwing in a new fan.

@eparlanax

The tricky thing is the fan screws are only accessible through the bottom gap but two are covered by the lip of the right side panel so it needs to be removed.

I removed the right side panel and bought an angled Phillips head screw driver for £1.50 to get the screws underneath. Rather than having to use screws Noctua fans come thing rubber supports so it was very easy to just slot them through.
