The Quadro K6000 should work. I haven't tested the card with your exact setup, so there is always a chance that something don't work. From theory the answer is yes.

Thank you so much for your reply. I'm considering giving a try to this card, but I'm confused because I found here https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/quadro-k6000.c2426

that this card is a Kepler based GPU, and Vray only supports  Maxwell-, Pascal-, Turing- or Volta-based NVIDIA. Therefore the card would work fine but not with Vray.

To do: Create my signature with system and expected eGPU configuration information to give context to my posts. I have no builds.

this is bad luck. Kepler ist the only nVidia chip that works with Mojave or Catalina.
