Hi guys, long time lurker here on the forums.  🙂 Here's my current eGPU set up:

Laptop:

- 13" MacBook Pro Touchbar  (Late 2016)
- Core i7 3.3 GHz (TurboBoost to 3.6)
- 16 GB 2133 MHz
- 512 GB SSD
- macOS 10.13.5 (rEFInd + apple_set_os_efi)
- Windows 10 Pro x64 (1803)

eGPU:

- EVGA GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 GAMING
- Sonnet eGFX Breakaway Box 350 (I upgraded the power supply to a Corsair SF450 for the 2 x 6+2 pin connectors)
- 2.0M OWC TB3 Cable

Monitor:

- LG 34UC87-C 34" Curved Ultrawide, 3440x1440p, 5 ms (regular DP 1.2 cable to GPU)

Accessories:

- Satechi Type-C Multiport Adapter 4K w/Ethernet
- Logitech G Pro Mechanical Gaming Keyboard
- Logitech G903 Wireless Gaming Mouse

macOS (10.13.5):

- I use fr34k's macOS-eGPU.sh v0.2a script (SIP and Gatekeeper both disabled)
- Boot laptop, rEFInd boot menu, Plug eGPU TB3 cable into TB3 port closest to tab key, choose macOS)

Windows 10 (1803):

- Boot laptop with nothing plugged in the ports
- At the rEFInd boot menu, choose Windows (no apple_set_os_efi used)
- Once the spinning loading dots appear below the Windows 10 icon, plug the eGPU TB3 cable into the TB3 port closest to the tab key
- Once in the OS, plug in other accessories (in my case, I'm able to run an external TB3 USB hub containing HDMI/three USB3 ports/1Gbps Ethernet/USB-C power)
- NOTE: not possible unless PCI Express Root Port #12 is disabled in Device Manager (located under Device Manager > System devices)

Benchmarks:

Here's CPU-Z, GPU-Z, and CUDA-Z confirming 32Gbps (really 22Gbps, thanks Intel)...

Will post some real benchmarks when I have time.

Comments:

Have been an avid custom PC builder for many years, but recently started using Macs for work and became hooked. eGPU's were always a fantasy for me, so I finally decided to make it real. Next upgrade is hopefully a Late 2017 15" MBP Touchbar with a 6C/12T i7 and 32 GB of memory.  😎

Pending: Add my system information and expected eGPU configuration to my signature to give context to my posts
