The omen accelerator has three pins:
Since the RX 580 requires an 8-pin connector, just combine the 6-pin and the 2-pin for it to work. Use the P3 instead of the P4 because it provides more power and the RX 580 requires a lot of power. I used a P4 and the video card shut down in the middle of heavy load.
macOS: Nothing. It just works, plug and play. Internal and external display both enabled.
Installed Windows 10 using the default Boot Camp assistant on macOS.
- Uninstall default AMD drivers provided by Apple using Display Driver Uninstaller
- Install AMD drivers from https://www.bootcampdrivers.com
- Plug in and restart
On Windows, the internal display will be disabled when using the GPU. I'm fine with this since I have an external display and I don't intend to use the internal display.
DO NOT INSTALL THE LATEST DRIVERS FROM BOOTCAMPDRIVERS.COM. It has been reported that this will cause random crashing. It has for mine.
