Installation steps

The omen accelerator has three pins:

Label Power Pin count
P3 150 W 6-pin
P4 125 W 6-pin
N/A 20W 2-pin

Since the RX 580 requires an 8-pin connector, just combine the 6-pin and the 2-pin for it to work. Use the P3 instead of the P4 because it provides more power and the RX 580 requires a lot of power. I used a P4 and the video card shut down in the middle of heavy load.

macOS:
Nothing. It just works, plug and play. Internal and external display both enabled.
Windows:
Installed Windows 10 using the default Boot Camp assistant on macOS.

On Windows, the internal display will be disabled when using the GPU. I'm fine with this since I have an external display and I don't intend to use the internal display.

DO NOT INSTALL THE LATEST DRIVERS FROM BOOTCAMPDRIVERS.COMIt has been reported that this will cause random crashing. It has for mine.

Comments

Everything is working great so far. My only concern is that the Omen Accelerator can't power an RX Vega 56 or 64, and that's an issue when thinking of upgrading.
