Ive since upgraded my monitor to an ROG PG279Q (27", IPS, Gsync, 165Hz, 1440p).

Using displayport, Im unable to disable Digital Audio on NVIDIA Control Panel. I can only disable it on HDMI.

FPS seems to be 5-10% higher with it disabled on HDMI, but on Displayport similar to the enabled HDMI option.

I have devices disabled in device manager, yet the thunderbolt cable is still sending audio information to the EGPU?

Am I mistaken here? Is there a work-around for stopping audio signal eating up bandwidth when connected to displayport?

Thanks

-Macbook Pro mid 2017 15"
-Razer Core X
-RTX 2080 (MSI Gaming X Trio)
-ROG PG279Q

My Razer Core X psu is really load. Do you know any compatible psu so I can replace it?

The question that I have been wondering is how well the maxed out i7 MacBook Pro 2018 is going to do with an eGPU&RTX 2080 ti or two 1080 ti's (if the installations are possible) when it comes to demanding VR games on the upcoming next-generation VR Sets like StarVR and Pimax with insane Field of View? Will I have to buy a PC with RTX 2080 ti or would an eGPU be sufficient enough with my maxed out i7 MBP 2018? I wish I could find the answer to this question. I am still a few months away from buying the eGPU + RTX 2080 ti + VR Sets so I hope these questions will be answered in time.
