I ordered this Thunderbolt 3 to NVMe enclosure two days ago for $69.99 thinking it was a great deal. Well, I was checking order progress and the price is now $49.99!

At $50 it’s the same cost as USB-C M.2 enclosures. Got another one to do a custom eGPU like in this topic

@jefniro I have received both units I ordered from Newegg. I took photos but am still waiting on a good NVMe drive to test (Samsung 970 Evo+).

Odd. I haven't yet. And I can't even track it: just says in the system but no info about location/etc in USPS.

Oh, I am now a "famed" member - yay!

@mac_editor I didn’t receive tracking info either. They showed up in a DHL package straight from Asia. About two weeks from when I placed the order on Newegg.

Dear all

Have you managed to make these enclosures work properly? I have read user reviews saying that "it was not made out of metal but plastic" and that "they did not work properly with Macs".

Is that what you found?

Mac Mini 2018 i7 16 GB 512 GB SSD, Mac Book Pro 2016, BenQ PD2720U, Sonnet Breakaway Box 550 W, Nitro+ RX5700 XT, KFA2 SNPR 1060 6GB eGPU,...

@jangoloti_1 I bought two units and they worked well for me. One was even used for a M.2 to TB3 eGPU build. The other hosts an NVMe drive and I have tested it in macOS, Windows, and Linux. The only inconsistency is max throughput with NVMe drives. I could only get full Thunderbolt 3 bandwidth with the SanDisk Extreme Pro 1TB drive.

The enclosure is plastic but build quality is not bad at all. The included heatsink helps cooling to some extent. It has a nice Thunderbolt 3 plug retainer on one end of the TB3 cable. Here’s the Wavelink UTE02 NVMe M.2 Thunderbolt 3 enclosure discussion with photos and additional information when I tested it in macOS.

Thanks. I bought one, see what it gives. If it complements my meagre 512 GB of SSD it will be 80 EUR well spent.

I had not found that discussion, maybe you can close this one and redirect all new entries to it.
