This is the best price I've seen on the Radeon VII.

Great deal! Same price in the UK... almost tempting but the 5700XT's are better value for 99% of folks.

@eightarmedpet I agree. It's not good for gaming at all and yet AMD marketed it as the first 7nm gaming GPU. I tried running X-Plane 11 with Radeon VII eGPU on 2013 Mac Pro last night and it struggled. It was very loud too. Non-gaming tasks would be the only reason to buy this graphics card.

I got another Radeon VII through this sale. It's likely an inventory clearance so once the stock runs out they'd be gone for good. My 2013 Mac Pro can run dual Radeon VII eGPUs alongside the dual D500 dGPUs. Will be an interesting test once the 2019 Mac Pro comes out with its Radeon Pro Vega II MPX.

For Black Friday, Newegg further reduces the Radeon VII price to $499.99. I must resist buying a third one! 😀

Why fight it? I’m coming to the opinion that Apple’s roadmap for Mac hardware updates in 2020-2021 consists entirely of Mac users adding Radeon VII’s to their 2013-2018 Mac’s Thunderbolt chain.

In fact, I suspect if you read far enough in Apple’s 4Q 2019 financials you’ll likely find the following forward-looking statements:

“Apple does not comment on unannounced future Mac products - nor are any planned.”

“Mac hardware team members currently enjoy (unpaid) Flex-time, and (unpaid) Friday’s off.”

“Beginning in Q1 2020, Mac hardware team members may elect to work from home (Mac Pro, MacBook Pro teams), drink from home (Mac Mini team), or have their cell numbers totally blocked (iMac, iMac Pro teams).”

😉

2018 Mac Mini i5 / 6-core 3.0-4.1 Ghz / 32GB / 256GB / Intel UHD 630 / PowerColor Gaming Station / PowerColor dual-fan RX5700 XT / Mac OS 10.15.5 Catalina / Windows 2004 😏 / LG 27" 4K display

FYI, the $499.99 deal is on Amazon.com too. Can also get the Sonnet 650W breakaway box for about $275 with the current 20% coupon.
