Hallo,
for long time I use Mac Computers, now I have a iMac ultimo 2015 Retina (5K). I am
running Mac Os Sierra 10.12.6. To be able to use various Renderer (Redshift, Octane)
I am looking for the best fitting graphic card. Do have any expierence using an nVIDIA 1080 Ti
or nVIDIA 2070?

I am looking forward to your expierence and suggestions

Kind regards
FreddieOne

Before people start chiming in to google stuff and do your research, I'll answer your question by stating that there are no MacOS drivers for the RTX line of GPU's, so the 2070 will not work, unless you bootcamp into Windows 10. The 1080Ti is your best bet, although I'm less experienced with Sierra and eGPU's, but there are at least drivers for that GPU. At the very least, you'll probably have to run purge-wrangler or some kind of script to enable eGPU's on Macs.

I think you won't be able to run an eGPU on Sierra (easily, if at all). You should use High Sierra 10.13.6 and a GTX1080Ti for that matter. You won't be able to upgrade to Mojave.
