First, thanks to all from creating such a wonderful pleace for learn. I have been lurking the forum trying to learn and understand how this world works. It’s a bit hard for me, since I’m not used to this level of IT mastery, but, it’s completely fascinating.
I have my old and trusted Acer 5750G and I’m still using it everyday for work. I’m a photographer and it has worked quite well with some upgrades:
-Upgraded i5 to i7 2630qm.
-Upgraded ram, 8gb to 16 gb.
-Upgraded HD to SSD.
– I have the unlocked bios so I was able to set the mpci port as “hot pluggable” and I can also deactivate the dedicated nvidia 630m from the bios itself.
– I have bough this case [PCIe PCI-E EXP GDC External Laptop Video Card Dock / Laptop Docking Station (Mini PCI-E interface Version) ] that will arrive home in 10-15 days.
– I have ordered a wifi usb card.
I was thinking in getting a nvidia 1060 6gb and plug it to my old laptop using the mpci port. I ask for your advice and knoledge regarding this:
1- Is this a good card choice?
2- Will I face any problem with my setup or there is something important I should take into consideration?
3- Will software that uses CUDA (photoshop and premiere, for example) get reinforced with the new card?
4- How much processing power will get lost for the “small” port I will be using?
Thanks a lot again, and sorry for my english mistakes!!
I've looked far and wide on Google and need to know... Has anyone had success with using a m.2 NGFF PCIE x4 with the Asrock Deskmini 110? It has 2 expansion ports, one for the wifi card and one PCIE x4 port normally used for a NVME SSD.
There doesn't seem to be many people who have tried it, and as far as I can tell, no one who has documented a success. I really want to use the EXP GDC or the ADT-Link R43 but don't want to buy unless it will work.
Hello and a happy new year,
and can i connect the Grafic card to this 220W DA-2 DELL supply?
is anyone using this Card and can tell me how loud it is?
I bought a BEAST V8.44 EXP GDC used on a forum and I did a preliminary test with a geforce 7300 gt. Windows 10 recognized the card and also GPU-Z but it did not work and the GTX950m no longer worked. I got this by removing the wifi card and connecting the BEAST.
With the UEFI of the motherboard I can not disable the 950m. I saw that you sell a software, with that work?
Thanks for the answers.
How much performance hit can I expect?
However, I saw the gpu requirement on one of the picture display. It seems like my gpu has higher bandwidth than recommended. I am wondering if can I still use this method to play games? Let's say if those games can be played with older gpu that falls in their recommended area for using exteral pcie.
Also, with this setting, can I mine cryptocurrency? I saw many people use converter to convert 16x to 1x on their desktop, so I assume I won't need a lot of communication between gpu and my computer?
I have a Dell Latitude E5440 and am looking to get a eGPU as the Intel HD sh*t isnt enough. I am looking to use ExpressCard as I don't want to change the body of the laptop itself. I'm looking to use this eGPU from Amazon with this cable and a GT 1030/GTX 1050. I just want to make sure this will all be compatible.
My Laptop Specs:
8 GB RAM
128 GB Samsung 830 SSD
excuse me. can i use GTX 1050 TI on Asus ROG G501 JW by using eGPU EXP GDC Beast ?
how much perfomance can i get by using gtx 1050 ti by using eGPU EXP GDC Beast ?
is it worth it to use eGPU EXP GDC Beast on NVME by sacrificing wifi card ?
