Hello. I'm worried about the state of my laptop or monitor. Do they get worse from using EXP GDC?

Hi everyone,

I've been going through some similar branded builds with a Robert Evans' Clevo laptop. I am getting a PCE164P-N06 riser card to test before purchasing an R43SG. My question is whether my laptop is capable of x4 or x1 with my M.2 slots? My laptop specs as detailed below with screenshots from the Hwinfo on the slot handler. Thanks.

Your image tells you the 2nd M.2 slot is x4 2.0 (16Gbps):

@nando4, Thanks for the highlight. Got it.

Btw...is the cable between m.2 connector and the ADT flexible enough to bend/fold at a 90deg angle? My m.2 slot is facing towards me (middle palmrest area), would like to divert the cable to the side instead. That would require the 50cm option.

Hi guys, so i'm basically clueless when it comes to this stuff, despite having done a fair bit of research. \There are several questions I would like to ask, here seemed like the best place to find people who know what they're talking about.

1) Has anyone ever had any experience with setting up M2 eGPUs on a Lenovo Ideapad L340? (couldn't find anything on the tables)

2) If similar models to the Ideapad L340 work with M2 (ADT or Beast) could it be expected to work with an L340?

3) Does a beast work in basically the same way as an ADT? ie connect the M2, power supply, insert GPU, install drivers

4) Would you guys recommend a beast or adt in general?

5) Are there any good tutorials online for setting up an ADT link M2 (I have no thunderbolt)

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and I appreciate any help, so thanks in advance;

I have a Dell G3 3589 (I7-8750H, 16GB, GTX 1050ti) and I feel like 1050ti is getting behind.

My idea was to use this adapter EXP GDC 9.0b , so I would connect it in the M.2 port and I wouldn't need to get rid of the wifi adapter, hence buying a new gpu, like Rx 5500xt and installing it.

The problem is that I've never seen anyone installing an adapter in a laptop that has already got a dedicated gpu on it. Does anyone know, could anyone tell if it would work out? Does anyone know if I would need to change anything in the BIOS boot settings? Or maybe I could just use the "right click" and run it with the new graphics card? (After installing the drivers, of course)

Anyway, thank you guys for any help.

Ok so i have a hp pavilion 15 with a gtx1650 card wanting to do a egpu.

so for transferring the data can i use the m.2 m key graphics card dock and plug it into the ssd upgrade port? Ive been reading and reading i honestly just dont know. I know i can go through the wifi pcie or whatever but ive heard that’s pretty slow and was wondering if i can go through that port i was talking about. And im pretty sure its nmve but idk i cant find anyone really talking about it online.

but could the egpu graphics card be white listed ? Due to there already being a graphics card in it

A 45° fold will give you a 90° change in direction (and a 180° change in orientation) but every bend may degrade the signal. You may be better off with one of the 90° angle cables:

You might be able to combine adapters but that can also degrade the signal

Hello, new to eGPU's. I have a Qosmio X70-A PSPLTU that has an i7 4700MQ and a GTX770M, 12GB ram, Windows 10. I have a GTX 960 laying around. As I understand it I have an M.2 slot(NVME) UNDERNEATH the motherboard and will be a pain to take it all apart to get underneath to run something out of the side....oh well. I hear reliability of the beast is bad and to use the x4 R43SG(multiple ways i can power it?), looks like a ribbon cable that will slide right into the M.2 slot I hope???(No soldering required?)(M.2 slot underneath the board https://www.instructables.com/How-to-Replace-the-Motherboard-in-a-Qosmio-X70/ ) Bios is stock Insyde version 1.50, overclocking option disabled, cant mod the bios to enable it or do microde version without a flash descriptor override which i dont guess qosmio can do so no CPU overclock. Will this setup with the 960 give me a decent gain over the 770m? I have some stuttering in certain games and I think this would maybe eliminate the stutter. Can I even use the 960 or the i7 4700MQ? Price is attractive so no issue there. Decent fan pointed underneath the laptop. If this will work and give me a gain and not be bottlenecked by the i7 4700MQ I will give it a go and post pictures.

Edit: Thanks for moving this thread and not deleting it.
