The bandwidth limitation exposed by the ExpressCard interface will restrict any video card. That said the better the card the better the performance, anyway, so in the end it depends on your wallet.

Hello, I’m totally new to this eGPU concept. I have a Dell Inspiron 5447 with a Core i7 processor 4510U, 8gb RAm and a Radeon R7 265M. I would like to know if it is possible to mount a functional eGPU for this model. What is the best adapter and which is the best video card to use.

@Italo Reis: Check here wether you find any enclosures which can physically (port compatibility) connect to your laptop. If so, there is a good chance it would work, though depending on your computers firmware you might experience issues. The only way know is either finding a guide about your specific model or testing yourself.

Hello guys! I’m new here, but I’ve read a lot of topics and posts already. So I saw nvidia 10XX problems, but anyway in a glory of science I wanted to try to build my own setup.

I figured out, that my laptop have Intel Wireless-AC 7265 which is NGFF (M.2 A-key). So I’ve ordered EXP GDC 8.4 NGFF version.

Maybe I can ask just a few questions:

I decided to go with 1050Ti, or maybe GTX 960. Candidate slot (WLAN) Hotplug Enabled.

1) Will I have suffering problems in a theory with just a connection ? As far as I understand I can use method with a hotplug to help identify the card on a initial start?

2) How to check will I meet the problem with BIOS ignoring new device (when no vendor certified device is detected) and possibility to bypass ?

3) As far as I understand 1050 can be stable for some users. And performance depends on a task, but maybe there is some information – approximately degradation in GPU performance itself is high or it is acceptable ? I mean, should I buy 1050Ti and it will work near it factory values or it’s better to buy something cheaper (cheaper, yeah… during mining gpu crisis haha) or better to say weaker?

Thank you very much in advance.

will thes adapters and psu work on a gtx 960 4gd5t oc ?

The 8pin is conected to 2x molex’s and the “6pin(diy egpu) to sata” is conected to “sata to a molex” psu is a 250 wat from a old dell pc.

I also have a other  250 wat psu with molex’s and sata. It’s from a slim dell omniplux. The 8pin is conected to 2x molex’s and the “6pin(diy egpu) to sata” is conected to the psu’s sata.

the grafics is a MSI gtx 960 4gd5t oc

laptop is a dell latitud e6400

EDIT: I have all this stuff. I just never used a highe end gpu b4. The gpu I order used from new egg and I dont know if it works. SO PLZ MOVE THIS POST BACK

Advise which is better to buy a video card for Dell Vostro 3750, i-2670qm, 8 Gb operative memory, connect via Express card2. Need for editing in Premiere, after effect, to play. The choice is between 1060, 1070, 1080 GTX. If the sense is from 1080, then I am ready to buy it. Which one is better for faster performance with respect to my system? Money for 1080 is not a pity, would be good.

2011 17" Dell Vostro 3750 (GT525M) [2nd,4C,Q] + GTX 1070 @ 4Gbps-EC2 (EXP GDC 8.4) + Win7 [build link]

hey i looked into external gpu years ago, not much was happening then, i do plan on building a pc later this year but for now i am using a toshiba satillite c655 its fairly old and i think it has been modified cause the info from toshiba with my serial # dosent match the specs giving to me in speccy and even in system properties it says its a L750D which i dont understand,

anyway it seems my only option would be to remove the wifi adapter and go in there with a egpu…. will it work and what would be a good option for gaming and will a usb wifi adapter work for my online gaming needs i got 4g ram, duo core 2.2 g, it runs games like any fallout, sims 3 or 4 all expansions and i play eve online hardcore but id like to be able to turn graphics up a notch and not get laggy looking pictures, and id like to try out some new games like starmade or star citizen or no man sky
