The egpu setup (i7-1065G7, Rx 5700) I have works perfectly except that the internal display is not detected by the system. How do I enable the internal display? (Note: igpu is not detected in windows when egpu is plugged in)

System:

Lenovo S340-15IIL (1080p internal display)

1280 x 1024 external LCD display (via hdmi)

Intel i7-1065G7

RX 5700 (via EXP GDC 8.5c)

12 GB DDR4

512GB intel nvme ssd

1TB seagate hdd

Latest Windows 10 version (at the time of post)

Latest AMD adrenalin drivers (at the time of post)

To do: Create my signature with system and expected eGPU configuration information to give context to my posts. I have no builds.

I think you need the iGPU active in order to run the internal display. Maybe you can try hot-plugging the eGPU?

@lwf, That doesn't sound too safe.

@ethan_su, I'm not familiar with the Beast but you may be able to disconnect at the Beast and then boot, and plug it in and see if it identifies the additional GPU. This is what my setup does every time I boot because I am on TB3.

Don't hotplug at the m.2 slot, although I believe that is possible too with the right setup.

That post made think about something, once you have a working m.2 eGPU and you want to use an external monitor, is it better to plug the hdmi on the laptop slot or on the card slot? Is there any difference?
