Hi guys,

I am new to the egpu world.
This is my first post, I apologize for any mistakes.

My system:

Dell E5430 i5 3340m

EXP GDC v8.4 Express Card + Dell 8 pin 220w power

GT 740 gddr5 Zotac.

List of steps I've made:

1. Connected gpu + exp gdc + notebook
2. Power on
3. Black screen of the handset, but I hear the sounds of windows.

(Powe off ... alt + f4 then enter :))

4. An external monitor is connected
5. Power up
6- The external monitor displays windows
7. Install drivers
8. Reboot
9. Few seconds after entering windows, the video stops responding. (No sounds hear)

(Power off ... this time need force it)

10. Set 6 seconds delay on exp gdc.
11. Turn on only notebook display (no ext. Connected)
12. Windows starts
13. Device manager shows GT 740 but with error 12.

14. Try this guide: https://egpu.io/forums/pc-setup/fix-dsdt-override-to-correct-error-12/#post-734

But when I try to compile the dsdt, I always get some errors I do not know how to fix it.

For Intel Method I get: syntax errors, unexpected parseop .. etc etc

For Microsoft Method i get: AR00 is not a method, ESEL is not a method, etc. etc

Any help you can give me is well accepted 🙂

Thanks so much!

A pre-compiled Dell Latitude E5430 DSDT override and it's source exists already in eGPU.io's repository. This can be tested or the source used to generate your own DSDT override:

Thank you very much for your reply!

So, can I compare my dsdt-modified.dsl with the pre-compiled Dell Latitude E5430 DSDT and change the lines where I find the errors?

Okay, changing some parts I've been able to compile!

Now I have large memory shown in device manager! 😀

One doubt: I did this without egpu connected and without drivers installed.
Now I'm downloading the drivers and proceed with the installation.

Is it the same? Or did I have to compile the dsdt with the connected video card and the drivers installed?

Thanks!

another fail:
1) connect gpu and start notebook
2) installed driver
3) restart
4) Login windows and i think "Work!!"...but
5) after 10 sec pc crash and give this screen:

IMG 0458

If disconnect gpu, notebook boot fine and work...

Any idea?  🙁 🙁
Is possible to reset DSDT? Restore original? (Before Mod)

Thanks!

UPDATE:

I formatted the system and tried the procedure from the beginning.
Now I have wide memory, gt 740 recognized and nvidia working panel.
I can start the FurMark and Unigine Valley.
But...Whatever I do, after 10 minutes of starting, the video freezes.
No black screen, simply remains fixed image of what I was doing. Need force power off.

I also have a strange dsdt, it has two sections with QWord. With only one section does not work.

Any help? Thanks!

Attached some screens

Hello,

I suggest you to avoid FurMark stress test on an eGpu solution, it is a lot of stress for at the end nothing, instead go on valley, 3DMark and other games, bench, like you said.

Asking full consumption/load from the VRM stage is not the best even for a 740. Your adapter/gpu could not enjoy the current peak. ^^

Hello!

I apologize for bumping this old thread but hopefully this will assist anyone else that sees this from google.
I am suffering from the following error when following your guide that you linked:

Intel ACPI Component Architecture
ASL+ Optimizing Compiler version 20161222-32
Copyright (c) 2000 - 2016 Intel Corporation
Compiler aborting due to parser-detected syntax error(s)
dsdt-modified.dsl 2477: ECRW (If (PM0H)
Error 6126 - ^ syntax error, unexpected P
ARSEOP_IF, expecting PARSEOP_CLOSE_PAREN or ','
dsdt-modified.dsl 2481: }) = Zero
Error 6126 - ^ syntax error, unexpected
PARSEOP_CLOSE_PAREN
ASL Input: dsdt-modified.dsl - 12510 lines, 393885 bytes, 4609 keywords
Compilation complete. 2 Errors, 0 Warnings, 0 Remarks, 0 Optimizations

When modifying the file I was able to get it down to 1 error but it seemed to be wrong. This is on windows 7

See the following DSDT: https://www.sendspace.com/file/a9liya

Thank you for any help you can provide!

I probably did this wrong, I fixed the error by the following code:

 If ((PM6H == One))
{
CreateBitField (BUF0, \_SB.PCI0._Y0C._RW, ECRW) // _RW_: Read-Write Status
Store (Zero, ECRW)
If (PM0H)
{
CreateDWordField (BUF0, \_SB.PCI0._Y0D._LEN, F0LN) // _LEN: Length
F0LN = Zero
}
}
If ((PM0H == One))
{
CreateBitField (BUF0, \_SB.PCI0._Y0D._RW, F0RW) // _RW_: Read-Write Status
F0RW = Zero
}

Ran into an asterisk error and a upper case error for a HID, I made those changes and compiled

ASL Input: dsdt-modified.dsl - 12513 lines, 393896 bytes, 4609 keywords
AML Output: dsdt-modified.aml - 42314 bytes, 1397 named objects, 3212 executa
ble opcodes

Compilation complete. 0 Errors, 14 Warnings, 78 Remarks, 109 Optimizations, 2 Co

I too am having issues with the error 12. Here is my setup:
Windows 10 Pro (up to date)
8GB RAM, 128 GB SATA HD
Dell E6500 Latitude
I have tried the instructions for Intel and Microsoft solutions and was not able to use "find" function in notepad++ to locate the information it specified. None of the searchable fields find the specified text to make the changes needed. The computer boots fine and sees the video card connected to the expresscard interface but won't work due to error 12 listed on the video card in the device manager

Please help!
Thank you,
