[GUIDE] error 12/43 & other detection, bootup, stability & performance issues
I have a DIY eGPU (GTX 1050 + riser 006c + DIY EC adapter) setup, the problem is that it's not being detected on my HP Pavilion DV7-3160es notebook.
I tried turning the PSU on after halting windows from starting (pressing F8 before it starts), and the same except turning it on after the 4 dots emerged (w/o pressing F8). Even turning it on then turning my laptop on with no avail...

Greetings!I have a dell ispiron 3442 and i'm trying to put a GTX1660 on to it... Here's the thing, i made all the cables right and all but the pc when i turn it on with the graphics card it makes 6 loud beebs and does not recognise the egpu. Help please:'(
I have an exp gdc beast mcpie with 1060 3gb. Also, my laptop is lenovo z580 with i5 + gt 630m + 4gb ram. By default, my laptop doesnt boot with the exp gdc . So i halt boot WITHOUT wifi card, then boot re plug the egpu and boot. Still i'm not able to get it to show up in device manager. What could be the issue? does lenovo disable the mcpie slot if it detects nothing is plugged into it at boot?
I haven't found any solution as of now. Is it because of the 630m that i haven't disabled? Also, there is no option to disable wake on lan / pxe on lan in my bios?
Any help is appreciated.

Yesterday I purchased a RX 590 Nitro+ and a Corsair CX 450M
I have the GDC Beast 8.4d EXP adapter and when turning on the notebook with the external power supply turned on (for gpu to start with the laptop) the screen of both the notebook and my external monitor only black screen.
I already changed in the eGPU adapter so the card start with the boot delay, did not work. There is also an option mentioning "ATX" in the eGPU adapter, I also changed it to ON, and also got no video.
I am seeing if I suddenly find an "unlocked" bios for my notebook. My laptop bios is "AMIBIOS Version 17HX.M045.20121127.SSH"
I really apologize if a topic with the same subject has already been created and properly answered, but I have been looking for information and to no avail so far. If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated.
I'm new to eGPU's science and I got a problem.
When I plug in exp gdc 8.5c I got a black screen (both on internal and external display)
Here are my specs :
-HP probook 6460b (Single stick 8gb ram, i5 2520m)
-exp gdc beast 8.5c powered ATX power supply (Corsair CX500) connected by mPcie
What I've tried :
Different GPU : Nvidia 9800GT, GTX 760 and a low profile AMD cardsame thing.
-Plug in HDMI cable to the eGPU adapter after paused windows bootup with f8/f12 : Nothing into device manager
-Plug in HDMI cable to the eGPU adapter after hibernating windows : Black screen, no boot up
-Set Power to ATX and set delay to 7s : Same thing, black screen
Does anyone have an idea ?

Hi friends. I really need help for my egpu. I have a HP envy 15 with intel hd 4600, i7 4710hq core with 16 GB RAM. I found an AMD RX 570 8GB graphics card to do my egpu. I did my assembly and everything seemed to be fine. Even in the device manager the graphics card was recognized. When I connect my HDTV with hdmi it works well so I'm happy: love:: love:: love: So my problem is that whenever I launch any application and the fans start to turn the screen disconnects with no signal. I do not know what is the problem and I hope to find a solution on forums but nothing. Please, I really need help. thank you.
Hello everyone, having some issues and I just wanna check so I haven't missed anything before I RMA the board.
Everything works with PCIe set to Gen1, but as soon as I change the BIOS to PCIe Automatic the computer will boot, the card will be identified but the Nvidia control panel won't load and the GPU will not send any picture over HDMI/DP.
Using an Dell DA-2 and the EXP GDC 8.5c with PTD set to 7 and ATX on default (ON?). Tried to add some ferrite rings to the 6 pins & aluminium foil around the EC cable.
Is it a bad board or have I missed anything?
Edit: Gen1 is working fine over, but the Nvidia control panel will not load with Gen2 speeds. No error message shown in device manager, just that the card will not transmit picture via HDMI/DP to the external screen and no way to access Nvidia control panel.
I have shielded the HDMI-EC cable with Aluminium & Electric tape, Ferrite rings on 6pin-6pin & PSU-wall socket cable, all other cables have ferrite rings from factory.
Tips? Is it possible to open up the Expresscard without breaking it and solder it on to another, shielded HDMI cable?
I have just built my build as well and I am facing a somehow a related issue:
- MSI GE62 6QD 15.6-inch
- CPU: Intel Core i7-6700HQ
- iGPU: Intel 530
- dGPU: GTX 960M
- OS: Windows 10
I have installed the eGPU to my machine and installed the most recent drives, but I am facing a funny problem:
When the eGPU is under load (game or benchmark) and with the HDMI cable connect directly from it to the monitor it starts to freeze. On games, for example, the screen starts to blink and of a sudden go black (it blink sometimes with the game image, and black for long periods again, and stay black). I have realized that when changed graphics setting from Highest to Lowest this problem is not so often. By the way, the game I was testing was Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
Another funny fact is that when I disconnect the HDMI from the eGPU and start to run the game on the built-in display, this problem does exist. If I connect the HDMI to the motherboard HDMI output, the problem returns.
I have disabled the NVIDIA driver , but it does not solve it. I also disable the Intel 530 graphics, but no success at all.
The problem is not the HDMI cable, since I have used it until now, and it works perfectly. I can see in GPU-z that the port is working as it should (PCIe 16x 3.0)
Brix Pro running windows 10. I have installed the egpu using the exp gdp v8.5 (that's what is written on the board) and I also tried another exp gdp board with both the GTX 1080 and 950 but all I get is a black screen. If I have an HDMI cable running from from the brix and one from the gtx, it will always show the integrated graphics. There is no way to turn off IG in the BIOS. I tried hot swapping the wifi card with the gdp exp but nothing is detected in the device manager. I have the card drawing PSU power constantly (by flipping the switch). I tried the various settings on the second switch (which I think is for delayed boot) but that doesn't work either. I had a similar brix pro using a gtx 1070sc and that worked fine. When I upgraded the PC and graphics card, I couldnt get them to work. It is unlikely that both gdp exp and both graphic cards are malfunctioning. Would I benefit from buying the diy egpu setup 1.35? Anything else I can do before purchasing it?
I'm running a Lenovo W530 I7 w16Gb ram, a Beast PCIe eGPU with an Nvidia 970 card.
I've played Witcher 3 pretty successfully on this configuration.
When I'm trying to play Skyrim SE (via Steam) on low detail quality the computer crashes to BSOD, it does so after I press "new game" on the initial splash screen.
The BSOD error is nvlddmkm.sys VIDEO-TDR-FAILURE
I'm new to the Forum and trying to get my egpu to work.
My Laptop is an Samsung RF711
First i tried my R9 290 but had no chance in getting it to recognize, hot swapping, putting Windows to sleep swapping and booting again, etc.
Nothing worked. Then i tried my rx590. On a cold boot i just get a black screen. If i time the Power of the PSU just right it gets recognized but when i'm trying to Install the driver i get a blue screen(Error was something with Video scheduler). I also tried to isolate the Pins like mentioned in nando's Guide, that also Changes nothing. So then i tried to make an uefi Install. When i get the GPU to recognize with an uefi Install i get an instant blue screen(page fault in nonpaged area).
I'm completely out of ideas how to get it working.
i just installed a testbuild to my lenovo G410 (i7 4700MQ)
EXP GDC Beast V8.0 mPcie
The problem is, when i turned on the power supply, gpu and psu fan start spinning and stop immediately. What the problem with my setup? is my psu or exp gdc broken?
Thanks, sorry for my bad english
Cheers people, I'm new to this, so please go easy on me
So I decided to build an egpu setup for my laptop and kinda got stuck at the very beginning...
- Voyo Vbook 3 pro (yoga-style chinese laptop) based on Apollo Lake SoC, Celeron n3450 cpu (4/4), intel HD 500 igpu, 8gigs of RAM, two m.2 ports, one of which being NVMe capable.
- ASUS GeForce GT730 2gig ddr3 gpu (the pcie witdth on this card is cut in half, so it's native x8)
- Cheap chinese adapter I bought from Aliexpress ($7 one I believe you call it 😀 ) That does x16 to x1 NGFF via usb 3.0 cable which I've read was successfull in a few builds
- Some random atx PSU lying around to power that thing up
Now the problem is when I put everything together, turn it on and nothing happens.
Tried going into bios: tab there called "nvme controller info" that only does show a message "no drive detected"
Neither Windows 10 recognise any changes to hardware. Device manager shows no new stuff found. I even tried clean install of w10, didn't help. Tried hotplugging as well as putting pc to hybrid sleep and then inserting the card - all in vain.
Nvidia Driver installs weren't succesfull either: it just says no compatible cards found upon the beginning...
The Gpu dock and the card itself get slightly warm to the touch after a while, which proves current flowing through them.
Oh yeah, I'm planning to use the internal display (13" IPS FHD)
Is there anything I can do to get the motherboard at least detect the eGpu?
I'm fine about purchasing that soft for $15 if that's the only way to get things running!
Will be waiting for the response
Bios version AMI 2.18.1263 dated 2017
Pls help... i tried installing old drivers, modified drivers, the fixer and always persist the error, what should i do???
I have EXP GDC Beast 8.5c NGFF version using 12V

HP 15-BW064NS || A9-9420 + NVIDIA GT 1030 LP + EXP GDC 8.5c (Not works, i need help :c)
I have the beast with mpcie and the GTX 670. I tried to connect it to my notebook and the card is recognized but it doesn't work. error43.
My notebook has a 7700hq and a 950m. can I do something or do I give up?
I have a lenovo z50-70 and I’ve connected an RX 470 to it using a 430watt PSU and ADT-Link R53SR.
I’ve removed the bios whitelist and yet it is not recognized in device manager or elsewhere, the driver does not install.
Where have I gone wrong?
Lenovo Z50-70, AMD Radeon RX 470, ADT-Link R53SR, 430W PSU
I have a GTX 670 connected to my laptop via ExpressCard (EXP GDC Dock) and it's been working fine for the past few months except I recently got a (EVGA) GTX 1050 and am planning to upgrade. However, when I installed it, I was getting no video output (to my monitor) from it. I installed/reinstalled all the drivers (using drivers from both NVIDIA and EVGA's website) and found out in Device Manager that Windows had stopped/disabled the GPU because it was reporting problems (code 43 if it helps). It detects my graphics card as a GTX 1050 and after installing drivers, it said a restart should work which is what I did, but didn't work. But then, I plug back in my GTX 670 and everything was working fine (I didn't even need to reinstall drivers or anything, Windows just recognized it and it sent a display signal to my monitor). I'm suspecting maybe it's something to do with power draw? My GTX 670 uses 2 6-pin connectors while the GTX 1050 doesn't use any external power (and I assume draws power in from the PCIe slot). Or is it just a case of old hardware not supporting newer hardware? Or is there something wrong with the GPUs in Device Manager? (I disabled my dGPU but left my iGPU and Optimus turned on)
I'm using a Dell Latitude E6520
Hi, I have a problem witch PCIe bandwidth, when i use gpu-z render test or other 3d app banwitch is only x1 1.1 ( it should be x1 2.0). My dell have a i7-4910 cpu and rx570 is plugd witch exp gdc v 8.5 . HDMI audio and optimus is disable, external monitor conected
I have progressed to the point that I am now able to install drivers. I was able to fool windows by having the wifi in slot and changing it while the computer is in sleep it does recognize the GPU and the drivers install but it requires a reboot afterwards. If I have the GPU attached while booting I will get a BSOD even if I do manage to get through windows will refuse to detect the GPU.
What should I do?
Lenovo Z50-70, AMD Radeon RX 470, ADT-Link R53SR, 430W PSU
