Trouble with exp gdc

Materials:

dell 220w PSU

gdc beast 8.x to mpci-e (wifi port is ngff but ordered a mpcie to ngff ribbon adapter)

evga gtx 650ti boost (checked the bottleneck with e7240 and it was under 1%)

Followed the instructions in the booklet for bios

-Uncheck onboard NIC

-Uncheck Integrated NIC

-Uncheck wake on wlan

Changed the BEAST to ATX power always on, and tried both timings 7s and 15s

I either get a rebooting black screen never gets to logo or if try to plug in the beast after the logo it gives me a black screen saying "no boot sequence detected"

Im thinking Nando's DIY eGPU setup might work?

Also do I absolutely need to use the 6pin power on the graphics card WITH the 8 pin plugged into the beast? (newbie question)

Thanks..

I recently bought an external adaptor for my graphic card via mPCIe. I connect all to my computer and try to star windows but it shows me a blue screen saying that "ACPI BIOS ERROR". I have been browsing a lot for the internet but don´t find anything for a fix that.

The laptop is an HP 15-d006es (but I have changed the CPU to an i7-3630QM and I have added 4GB more of Ram)

BIOS is an InsydeH2O v3.7 F.1B

The Graphic card is an AMD Sapphire R9 380X Nitro Dual-X OC 4GB GDDR5 (I connect it to an external monitor because I read that AMD only found in external monitors and not in the same monitor of the laptop)

The adaptor is an EXP GDC Beast 8.5c

Thank you in advance

Hp 15-d006esbut whit i7 3630qm and 4GB more of ram

After the first install I ran all the games with high settings and it reached 60 fps in all. But after a while in the middle of a game suddenly the fps dropped below 20 at the same graphics settings. And now my CPU runs at 100% while the GPU don't and their is a process called Service Host:Diagnostic Policy Services which starts when ever I launch a 3d application. I dont't know if the GPU is bottlenecking my CPU. And if it does why the games were running smoothly before?

My Notebooks Specs:

Processor: core i-5 6200u

RAM: 8GB DDR4

dGPU:GTX 920m (Disabled)

OS: Windows 10 Pro 64bit (build 18362)

Exp Dock: 8.5 beast(m.2/ngff version)

Hi, I need some help.

I'm trying to run an eGPU on a Dell Inspiron 14R 5437, it actually worked once without me doing anything different, but then I had to disconnect the eGPU and use the notebook without it, and after that it doesn't work no matter what I do.

The PCI Express Root Port used for the eGPU just doesn't show up at all, unless I check to show hidden devices, it's the port #3 btw, and port #5 is used for the dGPU.

I'm using an EXP GDC v8.4d with a GTX 960, the dGPU is a GT 740m, the BIOS doesn't have any option to enable or disable the PCI Express ports.

Is there anything I can do to fix it, or is it something that would be easily fixed with the eGPU Setup 1.35?

The issue that i have its that i get nothing back when i plug the beast pro into the mini pci adapter. The device works, the gpu starts but nothing else. I didnt even get to the bios screen (the ssd doesnt even start)

Ive tried to turn it on with the wifi adapter, then go to sleep mode and change it to the egpu and even then doesnt boot.

The exp gdc works just fine (ive used it on other notebook)

Any tips?

Hello, I have windows 7 ultimate installed on my m5-481 notebook, but lately I decided to add an egpu instead of my wifi card, I bought an external egpu beast holder for my notebook, installed a 9500gt, however when I turned on the pc, it worked just fine , then windows said that the driver did not recognize it, and it disappeared from the device management, can someone help me with this and some idea of what I can do, by the way, I'm using a weak font for this video card, because it is weak too, I just wanted to use it correctly without driver errors, because currently it does not even appear in the management of devices, but it is still connected to the notebook and giving power.

PS: I'm using the translator because I don't speak much English

Trying with GTX1650, Windows 10 64 bit and Lenovo T420 i5 2520m Intel HD Graphics 3000 with 8gb RAM and stock BIOS with EXP GDC

The GPU is recognized and I can go with the automatically installed drivers or with any other older Nvidia drivers but I get "Error 43 - Windows has stopped this device because it reported problems".

Not really sure what to do other than to try each driver pack one by one in chronological order.

Any advice appreciated.

Have bought an ExpressCard to USB 3.0 adapter which I will use to verify the EspressCard slot is functioning well.

1st problem that has been solved.

my power supply wasn't turning on because it wasn't plugged into a motherboard.

2nd problem that hasn't been solved

I try to boot with the gtx 980 turned on before the laptop, then I turn it on it crashes on the bios splash screen and if i try to turn it on after windows booted the fan goes maximum overdrive and doesn't work. now if I try to turn it on after the laptop has tried to boot up for a few hundred milliseconds it just sits at a black screen.

any help would be very appreciated.

also the specifications and hardware I'm using is in my signature.

@no_name_person, Hi! I'm new to all this eGPU stuff and have been looking around for people who have the same or similar laptop models as mine. Did you ever get your egpu set-up to work? I already have a basic idea on what to do and was wondering if you could give a quick run down on the particularly tricky parts such as setting up the software and BIOS settings

I have a Lenovo Ideapad 310-15ikb

i5-7200u 2.50 GHz Turbo upto 3.10 Ghz

6gb ram

integrated gpu - Intel HD Graphics 620

dedicated gpu - nVidia GeForce 920MX

1TB HDD which i plan to upgrade to an SSD in the coming months along with my RAM

I would really appreciate it if you could give me a few tips. Thanks!

Hello  Everyone !!!

For over a year I have been a happy user of the set: Dell 7720 SE 3D 17R, (16gb RAM, I7 3840QM) GTX 1070 StriX, EXP GDC Beast 8.5c mini pci-e WIFI card connector, Dell DA-220W power supplier, WIN 10 under UEFI, Acer monitor nitro 27 "IPS. The latest working drivers which supports GTX 1070 and the dGPU GT650m is Version 381.89. Due to the fact that Intel's iGPU is inactive (3D laptop version), I am forced to have the Nvidia driver support GTX and GT650m in the same time, I cannot turn off dGPU. Going to On top of that, is it possible to customize the latest drivers from Nvidia version 445.75 so that both graphics work on them at the same time? My brother-in-law has an identical setup like me, except that his Intel integration is normal, Gt650m has been turned off, and he can use the latest drivers,  ( more FPS in games, better optimization.) Am I forced to use old drivers for the rest of my life? Can it be fixed somehow ? When I try to install new drivers, I can't boot GTX, error 43 pops up, but FIX error 43 from nando doesn't help. (with older drivers, it fixes 43 and everything works). Thanks in advance for any help.

Ps. my brother-in-law has a GTX 1070 from Asus in the blower (dryer) + new drivers and this gives him more FPs than my Strix 1070, with a worse processor on him 3630qm, about 20% weaker than my 3840qm on an external monitor.

hye guys. Im new here. pretty excited to build my first eGPU. But after reading through this forum i get pretty discourage. seems like a lot of work need to be done just to make sure the eGPU gets detected. not really a tech expert...

My laptop is a NEC Versapro (a small label of VX-G at the corner of the laptop. not sure if thats the model). I think i bought the 8.0 exp gdc with expresscard. My graphic card is GTX 760.

I'm still waiting for few cable adapters to arrive. so still cant do anything but wait.

really hope it goes well. all the youtube videos out there make it look easy. and then i stumbled upon this website. really makes me feel like a sore loser. bought all the compartments without doing any thorough research about eGPU. spent lot of money already...a big chance money down the drain...

Im from malaysia btw...if anyone is interested on knowing. right now the whole country is on movement restriction due to the COVID 19...

apologies if i bummed out u guys...

Good evening, i'm writing this post because I've problem with my Egpu setup. On my device management the egpu is detected, so the drivers that I installed work fine. But it's not detected by Radeon Software. I can use my egpu on the external monitor, but when i start a game it's like the egpu doesn't exist, because the performance are very bad. I tryed everything: reinstall driver, reinstall windows by UEFI, but nothing works. If i try to enable the internal gpu of my laptop, it appears  a blu screen with this text: SYSTEM THREAD NOT HANDLE, atikmdag.sys. I think that my bios is locking the PCI-E as VGA, and that's it why Radeon Software doesn't detected my EGPU. My Egpu configuration is: EXP GDC PCI-E 8.0 with Radeon RX570. My laptop is: Asus A555QG, processor AMD A10-9620P Quad Core. Bios Version: American Megatrends 329( the last for my laptop). I can't change the bios settings, because it has not options to set PCI-E like EGPU, so i must have keeping on an option of WLAN to allow that my device management is detecting my Egpu. Thanks you.

@, finally got all the compartments. But sadly, my laptop doesn't detect the exgpu. So yeah...how do I solve this?...

Already disable the network boot (legacy BIOS).

Only have Intel HD 4000. No other graphics installed. The fans are all spinning. Already go through several threads regarding this problem but still no perfect/suitable solution.

I'm using express card version. So please if anyone can guide me I really appreciate it. Smile

Hi, I would like to ask you for help in this problem, because I found that I would update Windows to the latest version (I was 10 at the time), and normally egpu worked reading the card, etc., everything was fine until 2 days after the update I start the laptop and what a windows icon is spinning a circle and later remains a black screen. I made the laptop format, reset the bios settings, installed win 8.1 and now completely does not show me egpu in the device manager in the sense of a graphics card. Once I almost managed to install the drivers for this card after this error but at 100% I got a laptop bug and I had to restart it, I installed the setup but probably the computer does not see egpu because it says egpu not detected or something like that The graphics card on which egpu is AMD RADEON HD 7850 (1gb) And the laptop itself is Dell E6220

Hi there.

My Laptop DELL Inspiron 5567

Ive disabled my dGPU, and PCI slot in device manager and after reboot, everything seems to be alright, but after 2 min, eGPU fans start to spin really fast, and windows freez, an after a moment goes into black screen.

GDC EXP ATX and PTD is set to OFF (in other case, black screen before windows starts up.

eGPU is visable in safe mode as RX 580

I don't know what to do

Also my PSU seems to have some voltage leak, becouse i can feel the kick, when I touch it. Could it be the reason?

Also my RX 580 need to be connected with extra power cable. Do I need to plug it in from my PSU or GDC EXP ?

Very informative guide but I'm still stuck 🙁

Ive got the error 12, I dont think anything bios or eGPU connection related will be an issue since its clearly trying to get the damn thing to start.

Spec:

  • Thinkpad L540 latest bios
  • i7-4712MQ
  • 16GB Ram
  • GTX 970 Strix

Generic cheap PCIe USB3 mount via expresscard (cable spliced and directly soldered at both ends very short)

Fresh UEFI windows 64bit and took latest build from insider fast channel after reading about the pci.sys issues people were having.

I followed the guide and managed to get windows bootling via clover and loading in my edited DSDT so I now have Large memmory showing.

At this point everything looking rosy but unfortunatly:

  • When hot plugging I cannot get it out of code 12 tried removing it along with a load of other devices and also tried bcdedit.exe -set PCIEXPRESS FORCEDISABLE.
  • When cold booting with GPU connected hot I get black screen
  • When cold booting with GPU connected cold I get into windows but then enabling GPU results in error 310

Think thats everything, I'm of the imprresssion nothing wrong wiith connection its just a simple case of windows still refusing to allocate to the right memmory area.

Any tips what anything I have missed?
