Hi, is the videocard reconized by the OS?
If so, type "graphics settings" on windows and try to change stuff on this window, my english sucks but i was able to install drivers but the laptop was not using the egpu until i changed some stuff here... I might be wrong tho but its a easy shot anyways

Hello, I don't know where to turn to so I came here, I have recently bought one of these items and I'm having some issues with it and I was hoping someone here could help...
I have watched a video on how to set the Beast V8.5c EXP GDC up properly however when I connect it up and it turns on/ connected to my monitor the laptop doesn't seem to even boot, it launches with a black screen and does nothing else.
I will attach a link to an image that has all my Laptop hardware information and will also list what GPU and PSU I'm using;

System:

DELL PRECISION | M6500
https://imgur.com/a/WQekEjo

GPU:

Sapphire Nitro Radeon RX 460 4G GDDR5 PCI-E HDMI/DVI-D/DP OC (UEFI)

PSU:

ACE ATX12 v1.3/ 2.03 Compatible
ATX SWITCHING POWER SUPPLY
Model: A-850BR

Any help would be amazing.
Kind Regards,
Hugo

I installed egpu setup 1.35 and put the nvidia port on gen1, I guess I did it right. I did that for more stability...Now I'm using it on an external monitor but whenever i put youtube on full screen the computer crashes lmao, anyone ever saw this?
IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL is the message on the blue screen.
Anyways, after I wipe out my HD to change it to mbr I'm noticing less eletrical noise, I mean at least the mouse pointer is not "shaking'' when i use the touchpad...
Dont know if this ever helped anyone with this kind of problem or if what I say is actually true. I'll try to change back to gen2 and see if this still happen

But this youtube fullscreen crash is very wierd, I tought that was driver related since I was using the latest, but then I changed to 385.xx and I'm still getting the crash, so I dont know what else to do lol, I guess I'll die.

Not really, but i had to move from a city to another, so i unpluged the adapter from the laptop and plugged again and now somehow it is not happening anymore, at least not the youtube crash. What I'm getting is the overwatch "lost render device" and I got whitescreen on nier automata, both errors can be related to power supply and stuff...Let's see how it goes. Also I'm in gen1, it does get more stable and I did not lost so much power...

Hi,

I have a Dell E6430 laptop with an Intel 4000 integrated gpu. I am trying to upgrade it to a GTX 1050 TI eGPU with the GDC Beast expresscard adaptor and a 450W power supply while using the internal display.

The problem is that when I plug the GPU into the laptop after startup, the gpu is not recognized by the device manager. When I try to download the Nvidia driver from the CD and the website manually, it gives me the "Nvidia cannot find compatible hardware". When I plug the GPU into the laptop before startup, I get a black screen and my laptop starts up, as I can hear the startup screen, but the screen stays black. The light is on for the GPU and the fans are spinning.

My laptop seems to recognize the GPU because it acts differently on startup when it is plugged in, but doesnt recognize it if I plug it in after. I have tried to follow some BIOS setups like disabling Wake on LAN, NIC onboarding, and Integrated NIC. I also tried to use DDU to unistall both the intel GPU and the Nvidia GPU while restarting. I have tried to use an HDMI from the eGPU to an external display and get the same black screen. I also tried it on another laptop and the Nvidia showed up in the device manager on that laptop.

I followed the steps of the link below, which is using the same setup but with Windows 8.1 and I could not get it to work.   https://egpu.io/forums/builds/dell-latitude-e6430-zotac-gtx-1050-ti-mini-via-exp-gdc-8-4d-expresscard/

I am just trying to play PUBG! Please let me know if there are any suggestions, Thank you!

So building off of my post above....

I ended up getting setup 1.35 and got my laptop to recognize the card and got an error 43 and decided that I was just going to switch from the gtx 1050 to a 960.

So now I did that, used DDU to get rid of all previous Nvidia drivers. My laptop now gives me an error 12 with the new 960. I tried to use setup 1.35 to get rid of the error 12 like I did with my 1050. Except it doesn't work. I tried the steps in both of the videos and it defaults to my Intel 4000 when I run the test chainloader after compaction.

I don't really want to get into all the windows files to change the dsdt if I don't have to. Any ideas?

Thanks!

How did you get your laptop to start recognizing the egpu, since the same thing happens to me when I restart the laptop the screen turns black when the egpu is connected.

I have the same effect with my 13" MPB 2015 (not with the 15" MPB 2018). I can't boot with eGPU plugged in. There is only one way: To Hot-Plug.

2018 15" MBP & 2015 13" MBP connected to RTX2080Ti GTX1080Ti GTX1080 Vega56 RX580 R9-290 GTX680

2018 15" MacBook Pro (RP560X) [8th,6C,H] + RX 5700 XT @ 32Gbps-TB3 (ASUS XG Station Pro) + Win10 & macOS 10.15.4 // Navi vs Radeon VII vs GTX 1080 Ti [build link]
