@trending, No I did not find a fix to this issue. I don't remember if the BIOS was listed as unknown but the GPU was detected by GPU-Z.

Hello,

I have a GP73 8RE so with an i7 8750h and a GTX 1060 and I want to operate a GTX 1070 Ti but for the tests I use a GT 1030,
I have an R42SF and the GT 1030 is not found in windows but we can see extra lines when I connect it in HWInfo, I tried to change several parameters in the bios, including disabling the dGPU but nothing helps it is not detected

I see aleksv1114 with MSI GL63 8RC and he managed to get his GPU works

Thank you for your possible future response.
Cordially,
Alex

@alex_niedz, Alex, It's not likely it will work with R42SF, I recommend you to use R43SG or R43SG-TU or alternatives.

Best,

Aleks

@alex_niedz, try removing a RAM module that forces the BIOS to do a UEFI hardware rescan. It may help with detection.

eGPU Setup 1.35    •    eGPU Port Bandwidth Reference Table

Hello,

@aleksv1114 think I will buy an R43SG with an M.2 extension (because the R43SG is too big and I could do plug and start instead of disassembling the laptop to remove it) so it will not happen before 1 month unfortunately,
I tried all the same on my desktop the R42SF and it works it found the GT 1030.

also I soldered an M.2 slot on the empty slot provided for an M.2 on my GP73 but unfortunately there is no SSD detected in the bios (after it may be missing resistors or capacitors because at some places close to this M.2 slot there are free slots for resistors or capacitors but since I have no documentation about this motherboard, I will not venture to solder anything ) and since the GP73 / GE73 has the same motherboard as the GL63 I wanted to tell you.

@nando4, I tried but it changed nothing unfortunately, as I said just before I tested it on my desktop pc and it works but it should not be taken the same way on a desktop and since I have the same motherboard as the laptop from aleksv1114 I think it is the adapter that is at fault

If you have other possibilities, tell me you never know

Hello !!!
Are there any differences between operating systems?
Windows 10 or windows 8.1, are there any that are "better"? Regarding compatibility ..
I installed everything, everything went well, egpu appears in the manager, Dgpu does not, but the system is stuck, does not open any programs, task manager, nothing .. everything crashes 🙁
I use win10 !!!
Today I will install win8.1 to see if there is a difference !!
