Hi everyones, I setup eGPU as following configuration:

  • Dell M4600
  • GPU 1070 8G Strix ASUS
  • Riser 1x to 16x MiniPCI 009S

I start the power supply (laptop and external) in two cases:

If I start the Riser/GPU(external power supply) first, then start laptop, then the laptop hang at BIOS screen and GPU fan suddenly stops rotating. (as following videos)

If I start the Dell m4600 first, then start Riser/GPU(external power supply), then the GPU led still blink and GPU fan still rotate, but inside Windows 10 Device Manager won't recognize the new GPU.

Please refer to following videos for the first case:

Can anybody give me some advice on this ? Thank you in advance.

Recently I've purchased the necessary things to hopefully get a eGPU setup to work on my laptop.

The items I have are:

  • EXP GDC ExpressCard Beast (version 8.5c)
  • Gigabyte NVIDIA GeForce 660
  • DELL D220P-01 power supply (220W)
  • A 6-pin graphics card cable

My Laptop's Specs:

  • Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2520M CPU @ 2.50GHz
  • Windows 10 Pro
  • 8GB RAM
  • 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

When I first initially got everything I needed, I already had problems trying to get the drivers to install. I use to get an error 43 then an error 12 since followed some suggestions from this guide: https://egpu.io/forums/expresscard-mpcie-m-2-adapters/mpcieecngff-m2-resolving-detection-bootup-and-stability-problems/

Finally things started to stop working. I was no longer able to setup the driver and all.

Below are the usual behaviors I get now:

  • While the laptop is on, if I plug up my egpu set up, nothing happens but the *green light on the pcie adapter shows up (gpu fans do not operate).
  • When I remove the expresscard (while the laptop is on), the fans starts working. If I plug it back into my laptop (while the fan is running) everything begins to lag and still no detection.
  • If I power off my laptop and plug up my setup, everything turns on (including the fans) but everything is laggy and the egpu drivers or anything doesn't show up as new

I'm just lost and I really don't know what to do at this point. Any suggestions will do. I'll definitely respond and try my best to give more details.

Hello guys, i've been monitoring this ite since a while, and decided to do a built a month ago on my X556UR asus laptop, since the setup was made, the laptop keeps restarting, under load and at idle while doing nothing with it, randomly, sometime every 30min, sometime it doesnt shutdown for a whole day.

My setup is ;

i-5 6198du

intel hd graphic

geforce 930mx

16gb ram

ssd 500gb

eGPU setup :

m.2 beast adapter

gtx 1050 ti MSI dual fan

corsair cx450m (I had another PSU and already tried to replace it but problem persist)

Overall, the setup is great, I monitored it with afterburner, CPU isnt bottleneck, usage is around 60-70% under a specific graphic in game setting, GPU around 97-98%

always using 8-10gb of the ram in game mostly, theres a lot of space left

I tried a cooling pad for the CPU, cleaned the internal fan, temps under load stays around 63-64celsius so it shouldnt be the problem

I tried wrappin with aluminium the m.2 adapter, but problem persist

NEED HELP PLEASE

I have the same problem with my Lenovo Yoga 920 + Razer Core X + Vega 56. Except mine gives me a bluescreen about "bitlocker" as if it's trying to boot from the eGPU and secureboot is preventing it. I've tried turning off USB booting in the BIOS but no luck. If you find a fix let me know.

@yuanyasmine, alllright i'll surely let you know, working on a fix for it since 3 weeks, could it be about household power fluctuation in your opinion ?

Hello. I bought the exp gdc 8.0 dock and tried to use it on my laptop but i get a black screen and my monitor does not receive any signal. I looked into it and tried the ATX switch, the delay switch and some changes in the bios, but nothing seems to work with this laptop. The fans start spinning and the screens are black. i tried the setup with an older lenovo laptop and it worked so the hardware seems to be functional. but i was getting a huge bottleneck with this laptop. I think that the next step is to look for a modded bios for my laptop which will allow me to use the egpu setup, but unfortunately I have no knowledge in this field. maybe somone can help me .
Laptop: Asus fx503vd
BIOS version: 308
GOP version: 9.0.1067
EC version: R1.13
Thanks.

Hey, I am brand new to the eGPU business, so I have no clue what I am doing.

My pc recently broke, an issue with the mobo or cpu I believe, but I still have this perfectly good graphics card and my thinkpad w530 with 32 gb ram, so I figured I would look into setting up an eGPU. I bought the EXP GDC adapter, hooked it all up with my PSU and into the mPCI slot inside. (I bought it off amazon because I didn't want to have to wait more than a month for AliExpress, and they sent me the wrong cable.) I set up the BIOS as described in the manual before plugging it in, but couldn't make sense of what it wanted me to do with device manager, as most of the manual is in Chinese. I really wish Amazon sent me the expresscard cable, because apparently that just works out of the box and is the only adapter I have found people to be using with my laptop.

The problem I have run into is that it just freezes on the ThinkPad boot screen and doesn't continue, nor does it let me press ENTER to enter BIOS. It still boots if I unplug the GPU, and the GPU fans run perfectly smooth the moment I boot the laptop. I have been looking through article after article, but I haven't been able to find something to fix my issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello everyone. I need some help with my setup. Am i missing something?

Laptop: Acer aspire e5-474g

Gpu: galax 1060 6gb

Egpu dock: beast ngff 8.5

The setup was secured and the fan spins and seems like everything is going great. But the problem is i cannot find the nvidia or anything on the device manager. Only the build in intel graphic is available there. Tried installing the driver and then it state that unable to install due to no gpu device detected. Any idea?

Hi, I'm using the EXP GDC Beast and docked an MSI GTX 1050ti to it.

But whenever I turned on my laptop with that attached, it just shows blackscreen.

No HP logo, no Windows Logo, just black screen.

When I de-attached the eGPU it works fine and it boots to desktop fine.

Added info:
PSU: CoolerMaster 550w

Troubleshooting I made:

-Uninstalled built-in GPU.
-"Internal Network Adapter Boot" = disabled (Originally we're trying to follow this tutorial. But we can't seem to find "PXE boot to lan" on any of the BIOS options. "Boot" tab is not even present).

Thank you so much. I appreciate any answer.
