Maybe make the end of the “tail” into a lightning bolt (a cartoonish one, not one that looks like the Intel TB Logo, so the implication is clear, but the lawsuit is not).

"Dire Wolf II" - HP ZBook 15 G4: Core i7-7820HQ, 32GB, M1200 dGPU, R9 Fury@32Gbps-TB3 (Mantiz Venus) eGPU, HP Z27q (5K) + Dell P2715Q (4K)
"Timber Wolf" - HP Spectre x360: Core i7-8550U, 16GB, GTX1050Ti@16Gbps-TB3>TB2 (AKiTiO Thunder2), Dell U3011
"Stormcrow" - Lenovo T430s: Core i7-3520M, 8GB, GTX750Ti@10Gbps-TB1 (AKiTiO Thunder2) eGPU, Sony 4K TV
"Phoenix Hawk" - Intel NUC 33217CK: Core i3-3217U, 8GB, GTX670@4Gbps-mPCIe2 (PCE164P-N03) + Linux Mint 18.2 (64-bit)

Created and added an interim forum logo based on Yukikaze’s lightning bolt suggestion using the distinctive forum cyan color. wpforo server ideally wants it to be 60 pixels tall.

@enjoy, if you can produce your logo with a white background I can integrate it as the site-wide logo. We can have some fun with changing logos 🙂

You must make 2x larger logo for us – Retina users 🙂

Retina Logo should be 2x larger than Logo

I think WordPress have that option if not you can set like –  http://crunchify.com/how-to-add-logo-in-2x-retina-resolution-to-blog-with-css-tricks-wordpress-genesis-framework/

How about switching things up with the logo and increasing its resolution? On my screen the eGPU.io along with the Thunderbolt logo looks blurred. Also, I do have suggestions for a slightly new design, inspired by @enjoy‘s original design:

@mac_editor,  very nice redesign. If you’d like it to be the site logo it will requires just two changes:

1. as it sites on a gray background, the text will need to be white to complement the header white text menus

2. as it sites on the gray background, it will need to have the background be transparent (ie: saved as a png with transparency)

Because the design of the website and color scheme may change, here you go with multiple options. Also please decide at your discretion if you like that thunderbolt filled white or left transparent. I personally think it being filled in white might look better.

I tried exporting to svg -> never done it before so please let me know if there are any issues. Also do update the favicon as well 🙂

I am unable to attach it as svg on the forum. So zipping it up.

I have posted the logos previously. Also, I noticed the website changed the header colors, so here’s the other version with black text in SVG…

@mac_editor ,I  just rescaled down your logo to the 160px height requested by the theme. Does it look any sharper to you now?

It’s a little better I think – but hardly as sharp as I thought I’d be. I think its the DPI scaling not being accounted for. I’m running 1080 HiDPI on a 4k monitor. Same story on iPad as well. Not as sharp, but very slightly better…

@mac_editor , I cropped then resized enjoy’s logo from here  to 160px with result as seen. Maybe you can have a go at sharpening it up?

His logo’s rounded font and light weighting goes well with the content. If you do have a go, can you replace his image with your logo’s image?

I can try… so basically you want the same font as before. Gotcha..

Could you try this image? You meant 160px height resample I presume. That’s what I’ve done here. Do let me know once you update. PNG is fine right?

Posted by: nando4

@mac_editor, yes, an updated logo integrating enjoy’s font & your logo, 160px tall & sharpened would be a good one to try next. Finger’s crossed, we nail it.

Just posted it above… will sharpen it if needed. Yea, hope we nail it lol – I’m sure it must be bugging some of the other design-savvy forum users haha…

Now that I think about it, 160px is a lot for that little image there.. There is probably some post-processing or down-sampling going on there when you update the logo maybe?

Posted by: nando4

@mac_editor, your PNG was scaled with the GIMP from 400px high to 160px, saved as a PNG with no compression. Result is as seen.  Looks OK to me but I have no retina screen.

Nah, its still (quite) blurry to me – I captured how it looks to me at default scaling in Safari:

Of course, since you have no retina screen, you won’t be able to gauge exactly how its looking for me, but the screenshots here are representative to how it looks on my screen – on my screen (if you get what I mean).

@mac_editor, that’s what I see and it looks OK to me. Maybe edit down your image to 160px & post it. I will upload it and then you can view it, save it and compare to the source to see if any post-processing is happening.

I actually did post it as 160px – even when I download that image – it shows up as 160px for me – perhaps it is indeed the DPI scaling then? When I create a 160px image, is it actually 320px unscaled?

I’m hardly knowledgeable with web design and imaging, but a little online reading suggested that retina clarity requires twice the size (on Macs). So essentially we want a 320px source displayed in 160×160 which Safari should manage to scale for me for that “retina look”. Maybe this is relevant here:  https://graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/29850/do-i-need-to-create-my-images-at-twice-the-pixel-dimensions-on-a-retina-display

I guess that’s probably it – the logo looks fine to you is more credible since you are not using a HiDPI display. But to me, the text, which scales automatically, and that image, contrast a bit much.

@nando4: thought you wanted a 160px height image – not width. Even so, the measurements Firefox presents versus Affinity Photo or macOS still do not match. I inspected the image in Safari – that matches Firefox perfectly. So what’s uploaded ain’t the same as what’s posted?

@mac_editor , my bad. The preferred image is 160×36 . Ie: 36px tall, 160px wide. If you want to scale and submit it at that size, I’ll upload and let’s see if can get it looking fuzz-free.

Oh cool. Although there might be another issue here as mentioned above. I’ll post the 160 x 36 image too, but I guess it’s gonna reach you at a different resolution.

Ok, so I tried making it 160px width and as soon as I resized I realized its not gonna work – it looks way too small on my screen at 100%. So of course it would be blurred at 200%. Indeed, a 2x image is required (double width and height rendered in half the space). That’s why it’s looking blurred on retina. If you can figure out how to do that (the article I linked to mentions this), the retina problem will be solved. I’m attaching a big version of the logo which you can work with. If its too much trouble – might as well leave it as is haha, and do update the favicon and website image (for bookmarks) 🙂

Overall though, the website’s come along really well, and the neat translucent bar that pops up when scrolling up with more options is really a great addition. Nice!

I merged several of our conversation posts above so we don’t saturate the  ‘recent posts’ list.

Indeed, we made a valiant attempt with the logo.  Still the combo of @enjoy ‘s text & your image is a logo winner. Thank you for your help 🙂
