Mantiz Venus horrible support

I bought MV and the PSU is not working.

I cannot find my order number and customer service are not willing to help.

Any solution?

If you are sure it's the PSU that's faulty, just buy a replacement PSU and swap it in, it's not hard.

Replacement PSU should be SFX, and minimum 500W. I personally replaced mine with an enermax SFX 650w.

Just be sure it's the PSU.

Get in touch with the online dealer or provide some exchanges such as emails etc.

to test psu, just short the power on signal with a jumper or paper clip then turn it on. Best is if you have a multimeter to measure the rails, but just put your ear to the psu to hear if the fan is running etc.

That's great news... and also bad news. I was hoping it would be the PSU because it's easily replaceable. If it's the motherboard or daughter board, and Mantiz doesn't reply you it'll be tough.

I sent a support request email about a month ago to them and they still have not gotten back to me. You can also try to remove the daughter board and see if it spins up - may I know what exactly are the symptoms? Have you tried the following:

  1. Another TB3 cable
  2. A different computer
  3. Another GPU

The Mantiz Venus behaviour is such that it will not power up unless it detects a proper TB3 connection. I strongly suggest you try a different cable or different computer. Or test your current computer and TB3 cable with another TB3 device. Remove all USB peripherals and SATA drive connected to the Mantiz Venus.

EDIT: ATX 24 pinout for your reference to test with voltmeter.

@joe_fabio it looks like you have the same issue i had with my Mantiz, the quality of their board is not that good, it used to be working awesome and then after a year it started to randomly shutdown after 15 minutes of use, then it a couple of months later total shutdown, i contacted support and they asked me to ship it to them, which i did and they validated the logic board and said that it was working perfect, but i asked them to ship another logic board just in case and the agreed, however the new board worked for 2 months and the same behavior started to happen, i tried different PSU, TB3 cables (active/passive), power cables, different computers and no luck, i tried to contact Mantiz support but they just plain ignored me and won't answer twitter or here, i think they gave up. So at the end, I said fu.. it and bought a Razer Core X and it has been amazing (I miss the ability to connect usb devices and have a internal drive inside the Mantiz, but it was my only option)

Don’t they use the same logic board as Sonnet BB?
I have yet to have any issues with either of mine.
I almost never shut down, so one of them is running at any given time (which one depends on which OS I am in).

Both of mine are permanently connected, do you guys do a lot of hot plugging?

@jyin at this point I'm thinking that they use refurbished logic boards lol. Anyway i was using it from 9 am to 6pm non stop.

Wow... basically for the past one and a half years before I got the Razer core x it was in use 24/7 (sleep issues, cannot sleep so...). It seems to still work with my windows machines.

greeaaat another paperweight coming! But I do agree, their support is horrible.

and the sleep issue actually was caused by the Apple laptop FW. But now there's a way to fix it easily. Shift IR53 resistor to IR4 location then it is done. Ship your IO board back to us if you want.

while you changed the stock SFX 550W to Corasia 600W which is not in a compatible list. We don't know what it is going to affect the enclosure, could be thermal, could be the voltage. How will we support the board that is placed/mounted in a none certified & none compatible enclosure?

With the new logic board you sent me I was running it with the stock power supply and the same thing happened. At that point I realized that it must be my local weather conditions, hot and very humid, and close to the sea so maybe it gets too hot or gets rusted. Anyway i was very happy with the support you gave me the first time but after that you disappeared, I didn't want to get stuff for free or anything like that just wanted to get some help to debug the logic board, maybe schematics to make sure that everything is good, i would be happy if you help me with that, don't wanna have a $400 paperweight.

We never disappeared. Phone never changed, Email address is the same. 
Send us the suspicious board. I still remembered that the first board you returned, we ran for 3 days, benchmarking, stress testing. Finding no issue at all and you asked you still want a brand new board instead of tested OK one. We followed your request. And now, it appear again? it is Okay, send the board back to us, we will test it including 3 days burnin & stress test. No worries.

@mymantiz_john I'm happy that you are willing to help again. I didn't use phone or email, I sent a direct message to you via Twitter like the first time when I had the issue.and you replied to me but after the issue happened again tried to contact you via Twitter and my messages got read but no answer. Anyway let's forget about this and move on. Wouldn't be easier and cheaper to help me out with possible schematics, I have a friend that is an electronics engineer and he is pretty good, he could help me out to detect a flaw in the voltage or something.

Haha once and it was terrible, however Dell and Lenovo I heard great things, also I experienced HP support for one of my printers and I gotta say it was awesome.

And yeah, i was thinking that it was a faulty board however they shipped me a new one and same thing happened so maybe the board is not with my city.

yes you do reply but but you do nothing. Acting like pro is not like being pro.

i can’t find the order number but I have your faulty product.. it’s not a singular event but many many other commented on the same thing. So why don’t you own your product instead of hiding behind useless rules, number and paperwork.

i offered to pay for fixing but got no reply.

for all the members who shared their agonizing stories, thank you for your tremendous help.

if I was the ceo if mantis, I would have given you a compensation for doing the job of the looser customer service employed by this company.

razer core is the way to go. I am throwing the mantis in the trash now.

Asus Support is incompetent beyond belief. How could Asus ever build such a fine enclosure? Obviously the Asus employees have absolutely no idea about it. They do not even know that it exists.

Seriously, Razer Core is big, loud and has ZERO ports. So this is really not thee way to go.

Out of being honest, mantiz team reached out for me and offered me to buy the components; psu 75$, big board 120$ and daughter board 35$.

all of that with expensive DHL shipping.

that said, I am glade they care.

what am not sure of and while waiting for voltmeter to arrive. I don’t know how to know if the boards are defective?

One other question, since we are in 2019, why the creator of the beast eGPU didn’t come up with a hack to get thunder bolt 3 to mini pcie adapter that can hook their 40$ egpu to the laptop without having to create a whole in the laptop?
