[Solved] reCAPTCHA box not appearing on login screen?

Is anyone else having the issue of the reCAPTCHA box not showing up on the login screen? I tried multiple browsers (chrome, firefox, safari), cleared my cookies and tried 2 different laptops but it didn't show up on any of them. I eventually got around the login screen by resetting my password but I thought I should bring up this issue in case anyone else has it and can't post.

Same here.

No login possible anymore. No Recaptcha shown. Using another browser didn't help. Even Resetting the password yielded an Error. Somehow it worked with a additional Facebook login ... 🙁

In the last 2 days I didn't manage to login to egpu forums untill now because of those recaptchta v3 issues. I realised that there is no alternative to contact you guys in case my account is blocked. Register function is disabled now, and there is no contact form anywhere.

I had the same challenge the last two days - could only log-in via Google.
Does someone know what happened?
I would prefer to log-in the usual way.

I had the exact same issue but per nando4 message posted above January 9, 2019 10:08 pm, one simply has to wait for the recaptcha to "appear at the bottom right" to then login successfully.

This is also explained on the egpu.io facebook page here:

recaptcha V3 now services the login screen. A protective measure against a wave of spamming that hit the site the last week.

Simply wait about 2secs after the recaptcha icon to appear in the bottom right, like shown in RED below, to then proceed to login successfully.

If there are problems, facebook contact details are in the footer.

@nando4 Was absolutely unable to log in the site yesterday via macOS Safari...  Must have tried over a dozen times within a 3 hours period.  Was afraid my account had been deactivated.  Now writing you from a desktop PC with IE 11 at this time but will try again via Safari later today.  Is this a known issue given the recapcha does seem to be problematic when using Safari ?  Or could it have to do with something else ?  Per reported Jan 13, I did experience the same problem earlier this month.  Thank you for your support.

@slhdsnet, login works fine on 10.13.6 with Safari 11.1.2 and (updated) 12.0.2.  Check your recaptcha V3 confidence score to ensure you pass our 0.8 threshold:

@nando4 Tried again tonight at least a dozen times to login with same issues but for no reason, this last login attempt worked !!  Hence and for the records, currently writing you while running on macOS 10.14.2 with Safari 12.0.2 (14606.3.4). Per your message, I ran the v3 request scores php script and got an 0.7 altogether.  Ran a few times and always get 0.7 score.  Given this is pretty close to your 0.8 threshold, how does one go about to improving his own score ? Any help would be very much appreciated.

@slhdsnet Interesting. I'm running macOS 10.14.3 (not much different from .2) and my score on Safari (12.0.3) is 0.9.

Some documentation:  https://developers.google.com/recaptcha/docs/v3

Post:  https://webmasters.googleblog.com/2018/10/introducing-recaptcha-v3-new-way-to.html

Basically a 0.8 requirement should be pretty aggressive at filtering out most spam. Since it trains itself by looking at traffic on the website, it should be hard to game. Bots typically have observable patterns and it should be difficult (not impossible) to design a bot with measures to maintain high scores.

@slhdsnet ,  the reCAPTCHA threshold was temporarily lowered to 0.6 a week ago to allow easier access. Unfortunately Chinese univerity spammers once again gained access. Hence it's set to 0.8 0.7which filters them out.

Check your CAPTCHA score
Please refer to @mac_editor's links on improving your score. I, like @mac_editor, have a 0.9 score at:

@mac_editor  Thank you for the relevant explanation.  It appears it is a hit & miss login for me at this point.  I ran the v3 request scores php script again a few times and not only do I get a score of 0.7 the majority of the times but have also got a score of 0.9 and 0.3 respectively...  This is now becoming somewhat frustrating and the weird thing is whenever I log with a PC rather than my Mac, all is working with no hiccups !!  Per @nando4 message, can you please post your link on how to improving one's reCAPTCHA score ?  Many thanks for your support.

@slhdsnet it isn’t specified anywhere how to improve scores (bots could use the same tricks if that was known). What score do you get in a private window? Also what about in a different web browser? I am using Safari on iOS and my score is 0.9 there as well.

@mac_editor  Well, am still stuck at 0.7 about 90% of the time on my Mac, this regardless of the web browser I use...  It is exactly the same when trying from an iPad...  However, I'm always at 0.9 when I login from a Windows PC.  Go figure.  Somewhat weird but I seem to be more successful at login on my Mac when I open my Google account and leave open to begin with !!!

@mac_editor  Well, wanted to share my experiences as of late regarding the reCAPTCHA ordeal.  I have researched and read lots of Google documentation on the subject topic.  Did many tests and many experimentation but to this day, am still unable to login consistently on the site...  Just like mentioned by @kid it can take up to 10+ attempts to login but it even does not sometimes.  This is becoming quite irritating and frustrating, especially when I login from a Windows PC whereas it always logs in at first try !!

QUICK TIP:  On the above basis, the workaround I have found to ease the login process is actually quite simple.  Login from a PC !!  Seriously, you first login in your Google account and keep open.  Then you open eGPU.io and login.  In my case, I will login on either the first or the second attempt, which is far better than to keep trying to no avail.

I believe more attention should be given on this topic to help find a resolve for all of the eGPU.io community members.  Many thanks for your support.

So far I tested on Firefox, Edge, Safari on iOS, also all the privacy modes. None of them gets a score above 0.7. After some googling, it appears that logging in your google account gives you 0.9 because recaptcha is owned by google. Guess it's just another data collecting tool by the "do be evil" company.

@kid  You just confirmed the same I have experienced, i.e. 0.9 when I log into my Google account first and this before I login to eGPU.io !!  If I do not log in Google first, I get 0.7 but have seen 0.3 on occasion, go figure...  Still and what I do not understand is why I can login at first try whenever I do so from a Windows PC.  Can anyone explain this ???

I had the problem last time and I could solve it by reentering the password manually. This seems to trigger the mechanisms in order to see we are not robots.

@oliverb  Thank you for the feedback.  I just tried by reentering my password manually, i.e. five times in a row to no avail...  This is really becoming an irritating experience.  However, I did login today a few times from work on a Windows PC with no issues whatsoever.  At this point, I now login first in my Google account, then login the eGPU.io site which is a workaround that works.  Ha well, I guess one day someone will have a permanent fix for this issue.

I have the same problem... but, it works if you check the 'Remember me' box.  Something is setup wrong there. Maybe the reCaptcha is installed, but because it isn't displaying, the next field becomes a required field, or something like that.

That said... I recommend against using any of the social media login methods anywhere except logging into said social media site. Those companies are a mess, and are selling data every which way they can and trying to track everything.

As a test have decreased verification score required from 0.8 -> 0.7 .  This will allow easier login for legitimate and spam users.

Should I be seeing a reCaptcha? I don't.
And, I am able to check 'Remember me' and then it logs in (with no captcha anywhere in the process).

@nando4  Just tried from a Windows PC and for the first time ever, it did not work twice in a row...  Did work on the third attempt only, this using the recommendation from @cgwerks where I clicked the "Remember me" before logging in.  It does appear this is becoming a different user experience anytime one tries to log in to begin with but do appreciate the effort to trying to fix this issue for us all.  Thank you for your support.

@test1 some other users above found that signing into a Google Account on your computer first, open a new tab, and then log into the egpu.io forums allows you to login properly. It is possible/likely that you are logged into Google on your phone browser allowing the process to work on that device.

So I was going to post on a different thread as I get different behavior bit I'll check with @nando4 here first.

I always see the ReCaptchv3 box but on Edge and Brave I just cannot log in. I have to use chrome.

Edit: Incognito mode doesn't work and since Chrome now logs you into ALL of google it seems that is what does the trick. Otherwise I get ReCatpcha v3 test failed or User Missed input. How is it possible that Google is controlling a Wordpress independent site through a plugin, that tells me they might be monitoring which Google users logs into sites that use their plugin.

Screen Shot 2019 04 01 at 10.24.59 PM

At first I thought it was inconsistent but it seems correlated, being logged into google allows you to log in here.

Folks,  Some more discussion with tips and tricks to getting around the reCaptcha ordeal are listed at the following URL, go to https://www.reddit.com/r/eGPU/comments/b8pmua/i_cant_login_on_egpuio/

In my case, I now always login first in Google (and keep open), and then open another window to login at https://eGPU.io which works pretty much 9 times out of 10.  Still, it will not work on occasion...

Do somethings admins plz about the site login, it is simply awful and poorly user friendly.

Tried 3 browsers, deactivated NoScript, ADblock, the Avira stuff and more, it took almost 10Min to log in.
