@jeroen-van-keulen, a test PM was sent to confirm functionality. Please reply if receive it.
@mac_editor , suggest use pastebin.com if needing long commandline syntax sharing that isn't correctly displayed by the forum messaging system.  Please PM an example of the broken syntax.

EDIT: problem appears to be fixed, but as PMed, please monitor and advise if any other PMs appear broken.

Unable to Attach Files while posting. UI loads, but previous uploads don't show up, and attaching a new file does nothing.

My suggestions stand as above - I highly recommend adding automate-eGPU EFI to Software section at least - its an amazing solution. Maybe also consider adding set-eGPU.sh (which will be improved soon). Plus, troubleshooting guide would be a great go-to for people having questions - which would avoid duplicate posts if it were more visible to new users.

Consider making writing system specifications (computer model, etc. could be placeholder text) in signature compulsory for new users - and possibly implement requirement for existing ones.

Suggestion: Replace the little house icon with the egpu icon and text - assume most readers understand the sites logo as a method of retiring to the home page.

Support for markdown for posts. Would make my day.

Also, is it just me or do script names get automatically linked:

set-eGPU

purge-wrangler

automate-eGPU EFI

macOS-eGPU

Ho ho! Pretty neat.

Consider making writing system specifications (computer model, etc. could be placeholder text) in signature compulsory for new users - and possibly implement requirement for existing ones.

This, so many questions are asked without giving full set up details. Also, signatures should be build guide links.

It might also be good to have a flow chart or question based portal that helps people find the right solution because there are quite a few now and it can be confusing.

Simple example: What Brand > Apple > What Model > Mac mini > What year 2018 > What OS > Windows > What GPU > AMD = EFI boot loader (ok, slightly bad example as I don't think you need anything from what itsage has shared but you get the idea).

Is there a limit or guideline on how many lines a signature can have for build guide or systemspecs?

Markdown status here advises this is not planned yet. We'll take this under consideration for sure. Yes, those eGPU.io software keywords auto-link to their homepage 😉

@nando4 Auto-linking is really neat! Good to see. I noticed even reviews are linked (like Asus XG Station Pro). Adds so much more info. and context to any user's post automatically.

In reminiscing about my recent time on eGPU.io, the things I'm doing most here recently:

  • Telling people that NVIDIA web drivers are not available yet for Mojave
  • Requesting people to add their build/potential build to their signature (this has been addressed in a way with default signatures I noticed - nice!)
  • Requesting people to read the entire document before using any software here

Having an announcement section or something could be cool.

@eightarmedpet above suggested an idea about having a question-based portal. Incidentally I had also discussed this idea previously with another user privately on the forum but it seems they were busy and could not proceed with this, so I also think it's a great proposition. In addition, I have summarized some mac combinations here. While that should clarify most things, it requires that people read through all of it :p

Another important thing I noticed is that sometimes people don't search for/miss the build guides before posting. So having a portal could serve as a sort-of pathway to the resources.

This forum has documented success on a variety of platforms (Mac, Windows, Linux, and a variety of hardware configurations) thanks to the work of the admins and contributions of various users, but in my opinion it could be a little difficult for a new user to harness all of this information as it can be hard to find. The search results could also be clearer (and perhaps link to posts rather than pages) - though I actually use it fairly often to locate some older posts - usually works great.

How about putting one of the “where to start” guides on the home page? As the forum expands it gets harder to find things and can be overwhelming for new comers.

Will try and mock mock something up to illustrate.
