Hey guys, I have upgraded my machine and can no longer run Thunderbolt 2.

The case is modded for significantly better thermals via one large round hole on the side and three smaller holes at the top of the enclosure. It was also modified to house the added Noctua fans that keep the card super cool; even under full load. Everything is powered by a single Dell DA-2 power supply that is soldered directly to the board for power. Check out the photos of the setup with my MSI Aero 1060 6GB for reference.

Once the card is installed, plug in the 8 pin Dell DA-2 plug on the back of the enclosure, plug in the Thunderbolt 2 cable into your computer and boot into Windows for a plug-and-play type experience.

The Akitio Thunder 2 comes with:
  1. Dell DA-2 220W Power Supply
  2. 2x 60x25mm Noctua fans
  3. Black Thunderbolt 2 Cable
  4. Kareon Cable for tall ITX video card
  5. 3D Printed high air low front panel
  6. OEM Power Supply (not needed to run)
  7. OEM Front Panel
  8. OEM Packaging and Sticker kit

Cost/Savings Breakdown:
  • Akitio Thunder 2 - $200
  • 60x25mm Noctua - $18
  • 60x25mm Noctua - $18
  • Kareon Cable - $25
  • 3D Printed front Panel - $16
  • Dell DA-2 220W Power Supply - $15
Total Cost: $292
Asking Price: $150 + Shipping
Savings: $142

It is posted on eBay at the moment if you would like to go through there. I will also consider ending the auction and dealing outside of eBay if interested.

I’ve got a real soft spot for these modded enclosures, decent price too.

I just lowered it by $10 too. 😉
