Hi,

I can see that the Blackmagic eGPU has been recognized and upstream port connected but not downstream. As such the computer chip symbol in the top toolbar appears on plug in but when you click on it it says there is "no removable GPU". This seems like there needs to be an instruction pointing to the thunderbolt connection as a possible gpu on startup. Can someone help me with a set of terminal instructions to make this happen?

I have copied the system information displayed below so you can see the addressing problem.

Thunderbolt BusO:

Vendor Name: Blackmagic Design

  Device Name: eGPU RX580

  Vendor ID: 0x4

  Device ID: 0xA1FF

  Device Revision: 0x1

  UID: 0x0004EE21A9023900

  Route String: 1

  Firmware Version: 26.3

  Port (Upstream):

  Status: Device connected

  Link Status: 0x2

  Speed: Up to 20 Gb/s x1

  Current Link Width: 0x2

  Cable Firmware Version: 1.1.0

  Link Controller Firmware Version: 0.93.0

  Port:

  Status: No device connected

  Link Status: 0x7

  Speed: Up to 40 Gb/s x1

  Current Link Width: 0x1

  Link Controller Firmware Version: 0.93.0

@gse_editor Apple blocked non-Thunderbolt 3 Macs from using eGPU. In order to use external graphics feature with a Thunderbolt 2 machine such as your Mac Pro trashcan, you’d need a workaround. I’d recommend using Purge-Wrangler by @mac_editor.

I was nervous to try the instructions by myself but did it late last night and it was a success. Thanks for all your help. I really did appreciate it.

Quick note:
For mac pro trash can 2013 you must have another monitor plugged in the HDMI to boot and start operation
Also you must connect via thunderbolt 2 cable and thunderbolt 3 adapter to Blackmagic AMDRaedon Pro 580 and then daisy chain to monitor, otherwise the mac will default to internal GPU rather than eGPU.
