Hi all, I have gone through the forum and the build guides but am still confused - I bought a 2018 Macbook Air and looking to buy my eGPU - Is it either Nvidia cards if running boot-camp Windows OS or AMD Radeon if it's Mac OS or is there a card that should work on both OS?

Thanks!

To do: Create my signature with system and expected eGPU configuration information to give context to my posts. I have no builds.

With work AMD will work in both, although error 12 can be a big issue in Windows.
Currently there are no Nvidia drivers for 10.14 macOS which is what is preventing Nvidia cards working, however, Nvidia cards are easier to set up in Bootcamp/Windows.

Having no dGPU in my MBA doesn't make it less complicated for bootcamp/Windows with any of AMD/Nvidia cards?

Error 12 is like the bogeyman. Everybody is scared, but in reality it doesn't exist. I actually never had it (and I really have/had all kind of troubles) 😉

@oliverb I reallllly wish that were true! It's haunted me for over a year now and only the latest EFI Bootloader got me past it and that's after trying EVERY other workaround.

I don't use any Bootloader for Windows. The only application would be theoretically to enable iGPU of the 15-inch MacBookPro 2018 (having a dGPU) and this just doesn't work with exact this model, brings up white dots and crushes the internal screen. You see, everyone has his problems, but not Error 12 for me.
Which version of Windows are you using? The 1803 seems to solve several problems.
