Dots in lines on dark area of new monitor.
I bought a new monitor to replace my 5K (which may be bust?) and upon initial set up I noticed rows of red (I think, I'm a bit colour blind) dots in a certain area.
They are only visible in when the screen is dark.
They are visible when there is no input (HDMI/Disaply port) so it's not a cable/GPU problem.
Feel a bit like someones pissed in my chips as I have a feeling its an issue with the monitor that calls for a replacement.
Side note: Set up was less stable than when using my 5K - had 3 BSOD, had to reinstall the drivers twice, and my set up froze when I plugged in another USB next to the eGPU which makes me worry about how stable it will be in the long run.
@eightarmedpet Sorry to hear the monitor switch has been going smoothly. Can you share the specs of the new monitor? Try massaging the area with a soft microfiber cloth to see if the pixel line can become unstuck.
I'm losing my mind I swear! Or close to it... sold the 5K and the lad is bringing it back tonight because it won't work anymore, god knows.
Depending upon what happens I'll give that a go, now I have a name to the symptom I'll get googling too.
Monitor looks great apart from that, LG 850 or something, 27inch 4k with speakers, USB C, HDR and Freesync.
Gave it a rub and no luck...
@eightarmedpet That’s some tough luck. Maybe look into running the R43SG ($50) to power your GC-ALPINE-RIDGE for Thunderbolt 3 monitor output? It should be a lot more reliable than the powered PCIe riser card.
