eGPU with External and Internal Display in extended display mode?

Hi everyone, I have googled and looked through the forums and reddit and can't seem to find any recent posts on how this works.

I have a MSI Prestige 15 with a GTX 1650 MaxQ GPU. I've just purchased a Razer Core X Chroma eGPU and will set it up once it arrives. My current setup is using the laptop screen off to the side and an external screen front and centre. This is all running with extended display mode between the laptop and external screen.

Is it possible to continue this with an eGPU? Are there any performance hits? I've seen some suggestions that it's a bit clunky, but these are from questions and answers in reddit etc. from 2018 or so.

Thank you in advance!

To do: Create my signature with system and expected eGPU configuration information to give context to my posts. I have no builds.

It works just fine.  In Windows settings just arrange your displays however you'd like (this only changes which edge of the screen is used to go to the second display), highlight the external display, make it your primary display, and make sure you're set to "Extend these displays".
