Hello people. I'm a new member of the forum. recently acquired an adapter to make Egpu. I also bought a gtx 550ti evga 1gb Gddr5 to use on egpu. i have a 6100u i3 and 12gb ddr3L ram. my question is whether i will need to use an external monitor or will the notebook screen itself recognize it?

How will you connect the riser to your laptop? The riser uses a PCIe x1 slot for the source. Your laptop probably does not have a PCIe x1 slot.

Notebook screen if it works will be slower than an external monitor.

Mac mini (2018), Mac Pro (Early 2008), MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015), GA-Z170X-Gaming 7, Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 580 8GB GDDR5, Sonnet Echo Express III-D, Trebleet Thunderbolt 3 to NVMe M.2 case

@joevt, hi ,

I realized that I bought the wrong cable. i bought one with PCI x1, and i need a mini pci express but I already bought the right cable again, with mini pci express. The big question is whether I need an external monitor to provide video or the notebook monitor recognizes it.
