Geforce GTX 1660 Ti
IMO Graphics cards are not improving too much atm and both companies are releasing new cards that don't really offer much in the way of improvements (oh hai RX 590 (which wasn't massively different from the R9 whatever card you sold FPS wise I believe)).
I know very little about the tech side of things but if the 1660ti performs similar to a 1070 and sells for sub 300, isn't that just a 1070? Go on Oliver, what have I missed... 😉
I really can't say, I am surprised what funny things AMD and nVidia invent to make some money.
And you are absolutely right, the last really impact was the GP102 (GTX1080Ti in Spring 2017), since then they are
-not improving at lot- stalling.
Personal question: Are you going to buy a Radeon VII? It looks as the Asus XG Station can drive it:)
benchmarks aside, 1070 is better ... OSX web drivers for high sierra. although it is interesting that they come out with this new card (1660 Ti )that removes ray tracing - a feature that many think is more marketing than what users are looking for.
iMac 2013 10.14.1, Macbook Air 2013 10.11, MBP 2016 13" 10.13.6 , HP 4530s 10.11, node lite, DA-2 PSU w/mod, PE4L 2.1b expresscard34, GTX460,1050Ti,1060,1070/Ti RX470,560,580
My opinion is that both Nvidia and Amd were spoiled from the mining craze of the last 2 years and they have a big hole to fill now. So they will do anything marketing wise to sell to the rest of us. I anticipate that they will be introducing new cards every 3 months in order to keep the sales up.
Technology wise I don't think we will see any big improvements before we move to second gen of 7nm for both gpu and cpu which will be around end 2020.
In the meantime Vega 64 or 56 in the region of $300 is not bad and the vii at 500$ around thanksgiving will not be bad either, if you need only amd cards that is.
If I could get a vii at $500 I will not be able to resist.
