I guess I should first ask if what I am trying to get to work for me is even possible. I have tried everything and I am just overwhelmed and about to call it a failure. If anyone can help or lead me in the right direction, that would be amazing.
Here is what I have.
thank you

@fabidit It is possible to use an eGPU with your Mac Pro 6,1 in macOS only. You'd need either Purge-Wrangler or automate-eGPU EFI. Here's my recent build guide that paired the 6,1 with an eGPU.

I really appreciate you leading me into the right direction. I am concerned this is beyond my skills unfortunately. I think what I should try to do is find someone in the Los Angeles area, I can pay to come make this happen for me. I have attempted this install and I have only problems. I could really use the set up to help with my transcodes I am always having to do on set at work. I can talk to you all day about video production, coloring videos and editing but I am far from the ability to performing this install. In all honesty I am scared out of my pants that I will do something wrong and can not figure out to find a fix. This is the machine that I use for my bread and butter. So if you happen to know anyone in the Los Angeles that I can pay to perform this service, it would be more than appreciated. I admire the fact there are people like you with the ability and talent to do these things and then offer your help and advice.
Cheers

Try Craigslist. Also you posted this as a comment to my thread. Should be posted separately to gain further help.

@fabidit there is a lot of information and it can feel very overwhelming and daunting but purge wrangler is an insanely wonderful and simple thing to use... you are prob just getting lost in the sea of information.
Go grab a cuppa (I guess you yanks drink coffee instead, your loss, but whatever helps) and sit down and read though @itsage 's guide carefully, ignore his CPU replacement and GPU cleaning (he's just showing off ;-D) and then give following it a go, you'll be fine.
I had no idea what I was doing until I read near EVERYTHING on this site, and still don't really, but I can usually get an eGPU working.

hay, i want to ask you if your setup actually worked. I have the samsung notebook 9 pro and i was wondering if it can handle the egpu.
Â
To do: Create my signature with system and expected eGPU configuration information to give context to my posts. I have no builds.
.@sohaib_fahmawi, It works for most games. But it is hard to get the laptop to recognize it sometimes. And PUBG has some sort of massive input lag. No matter what I do PUBG is unplayable. I definitely regret getting the laptop.Â

So is it not worth it to buy an egpu to use it with this laptop?Â
And thank you!

.If you have that laptop you're taking a big risk buying any egpu. Look at my screenshots. Its not getting the bandwidth it should and Samsung is absolutely no help. And the firmware update didnt help. But like I said it seems to work with most games but I haven't tested a ton. If that's your only choice of laptop and you want to game, it may be worth the risk. I wouldnt get a 2070 though.Â
